My "Leather Shirt"

Well, I think I'm finally done with my Temple of Doom jacket collection. I have a Wested Temple jacket that is the normal fitting jacket you see when Indy first gets to the village. Now, I just got my end village scene jacket, or as I like to call it, the "leather shirt." I ordered it a size smaller than normal and gave it a shower to shrink it more. It's a S&J and I think they did an awesome job on it.
Here is the normal fitting Wested

I think both of them look great. Did S&J age your jacket or did you give it the same treatment as you did the Wested?

Wow, both those jackets look amazing, but that second one looks spot on!
I've actually always had a bit of a soft spot for the ragged Temple of Doom look, and that second jacket looks fantastic!

S&J distressed it a little bit, but I decided to make it
really weathered. Here are some better shots of the front and one of the back.

The new jacket looks great.
Is is still functional as a jacket? Ordering a size down and
then shrinking it.

That's "Dark Brown Thin Cowhide".
Drapes, weights, moves just like Lambskin. But have the strength of cowhide.
We also have Goatskin and thicker cowhide.
You can have it made out of Ribby Merino if you want!
And every single detail of the jacket as seen in the movie, is present.
Cheers.-

That thin cowhide is great leather for an IJ jacket and the undertones are right.

Great jacket Knibs! I was thinking about doing the same with the Last Crusade. Go 1.5'' longer in lenght and one size smaller in size..
You'd end up with pretty much the other LC jacket that Spielberg wears. The slightly longer and more fitted one with the taller pockets..

About the Spielberg jacket...that's what I been after all the time. The advice jacket being size smaller and 1,5 inch longer is exactly what I've figured how the actual fit was in the films...made perfect sense. That being said Wested custom is the one to get in that case. Wested shoulderseam is too long for the look I´m after.I reasoned that size 42 with longer sleeves and back-length of 26.5-26 would be it.

Yes, The Spielberg jacket is the LC jacket I feel in love with as a kid. However, the Smithsonian took over the itch.
The Spielberg jacket clearly shows a different style LC jacket. Larger pockets with lower pocket placement. Tighter fit. Thinner hide. It's the same jacket wee see Ford runs with the suitcase in above. Or the one he has on on the beach.
And I think it's this one as well..
However, This is Knibs TofD thread. Just trying to make my point about a tighter fit in the LC jacket as what knibs has done with the tod jacket.

Interesting Holt - I always thought the jacket S was wearing was a copy he had made for his own amusement, I can see how he might have worn a costume jacket. Maybe it was cold during one shoot... My only problem with this idea is that S is about 5 inches shorter and about 20 pounds lighter than Ford, surely a movie jacket would swim on him?

It's most likely an LC jacket and what looks to be is that Spielberg rolled up the sleeves. The cuffs look chunky and rolled up.

Based on these pictures alone, and of course my love of Indy, I have ordered a "leather shirt" myself. Not so patiently waiting either!
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/Indy%20-%20Big%20Grin.gif)
I am not a big leather jacket guy, but I can dang sure pull off that distressed look better. Diego said they would heavily distress mine, and I hope it turns out really close to the look of your Knibs.
You recommend giving it the cold shower I assume?
I do plan to wear mine in the forest during my fall/winter/spring camping as well.
So excited, just never owned a leather jacket that I thought looked good on me. Never wore one because of that.

You mean you thought a leather jacket would look bad on you? There's nothing mystical about a leather jacket - as long as it fits they look fine or great on pretty much anyone. Unless you're a 22 year-old fashion victim and are wearing one two sizes too small and too short, how can you go wrong?

Just never liked how they looked on me, never been my style. Don't know how to explain it, just never was into them. Until I get my S&J!

I guess I always felt like they were bulky, heavy, and a bit to much for me to wear. I have always like military field jackets, and others along that line. Yet never really found a leather jacket I felt fell into my own style. I am waiting for my ToD from S&J however, and have some high hopes that it will fit the bill, and become my favorite jacket. I camp a lot, and hope this will fall into my camp gear, as well as around the town type stuff to. I have ordered it heavily distressed and light weight so it should fulfill my needs, and meet my style. Funny enough, there are just certain things that I like to be roughed up, and a leather jacket seems like one of those for me. The older I get however, the more refined my clothes have gotten. The forests, and the adventures are where I find my peace however. Can't wait to see how this new gear will fit in with the rest of my stuff.
