Curious to see if anyone here actually uses their gunbelt in the realm outside of just costuming. Ive REALLY enjoyed the way Ive started using my Indy gear while outdoors. Traditionally I would put my knife and sidearm on my regular belt which could become a pain to remove and gets uncomfortable on horseback. I spend ALOT of time hunting, fishing, and camping in the mountains. I took the ideas from the cowboys and frontiersman of old, and good ole Dr Jones and combined them into one really helpful package. If I need to cross high water I can simply remove my gunbelt and hold it overhead. In camp taking off just the gunbelt saves the annoyance of dealing with belt loops and etc. After a long day just hanging up ONE belt inside the tent with all my stuff is waaaaay easier. I can move the holster around freely if it starts to get heavy in one spot or chafe on a long hike.
My current "Indy belt" setup is as follows:
Right side is a leather flap holster usually containing a 1911 or hi power. Sometimes something else. Left side at about 10 o clock is a set of leather flap double mag pouches and at 8-9 I carry a Bear and Sons Frontier Bowie or other large knife for utility purposes. If I am just camping and not concerned about extra weight my whip goes directly at 9 with the bowie relocated further behind. I am absolutely converted to using a single belt to carry all my stuff as it just makes life up there easier! Not to mention it does look pretty cool.
Anyone else use their stuff like this?
Mag pouches are somewhere in the endless mess that is my truck.
