Fuller's Earth Removable

Post by Ride Guy »

Hi all, I just received my Penman Raiders in beaver and it is a thing of beauty. I am thinking about adding Fuller's earth for halloween but just can't quite bring myself to do it. Has anyone tried to remove Fullers from a hat thus treated? Perhaps I should just pull the trigger on a legacy AB and then treat that one. Going that route precludes having it in time for Halloween though.

What say the horde?

A real good hat brush would be your start for removing it.

Ok, so I thought a local theatrical and costume supply company would have this in stock. I called and the guy in the phone said they did but he turned out not to know what he was talking about because when I went there to purchase; bubkis.

Is there a readily available substitute for fillers earth that won't permanently alter, harm, stain my hat? Thanks.

Fuller's earth is just a type of clay. Its main uses are in kitty litter and oil absorbent products. Check your local auto parts store and you can probably get a 40 pound bag of the stuff for under $10. You'll need to grind it down to dust, but that isn't hard to do. Just make sure the package says 100% fuller's earth.

See this thread. http://indygear.com/cow/viewtopic.php?f ... lers+earth" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
