Okay, Guys.
I don't post much of my gear, but I'm particularly proud of this new acquisition. A well-cared for vintage 1984(ish) 10 foot Morgan with the original fall. Old school
Raiders style, with a narrower thong and 8 inch handle. To me, it's simply the Holy Grail of Indy whips.

Thanks, Canasta.
The whip has no significant history to speak of. The seller/original owner stated he bought it in '84, and has taken really good care of it since. It probably hasn't been cracked much judging solely by the condition of the original fall.
I'm not sure how many of these older-pattern Morgans are still around because I haven't seen too many. If you think about it, the market for professional-grade bullwhips seems to be pretty specific to begin with. Maybe it was even more so in the early Eighties.

Is it just me or is the butt knot on that whip more straight than the raiders "egg" shaped knot? It is a nice whip too, I'm just curious. You also need to take that thing out for a little cracking! Congratz on an awesome buy!

Great to see this! Over here I have a 10' Morgan from 1984 and a 12' from 1987.
Does anyone know when he changed some of the specs?
These have been uber well cared for but definitely put to use.

Thanks, Dates and Lelec!
Lelec, this was a friend's private sale. It was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Dates, the knot is indeed almost more barrel-shaped than egg-shaped. But I won't be cracking it simply due to its age.
I get my cracking fix from my 8' Strain, and occasionally my 10' Damrel SOC when I feel like it needs a little more "distressing."

Yes, I agree that It was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I too had my opportunity, indeed to be honest I've had more than one, one for unused 10ft 1989 and a 12ft approx '87 -'88.. But,I hope however in a further opportunity because I want to find a Morgan bullwhip made in the first half of the 80s
Cajunkraut, could you do some more detailed pics of the handle?

Dates,
Take another look at Mark Allen's
Raiders whip:

The knots on Mark's and mine look nearly identical.

Chris is TOTALLY correct. It's a complete fake. Worthless.
But, being the ultra nice guy that I am, I would be willing to take it off your hands for a nominal fee...

Don't be ridiculous. I'll only charge you a $10...um... disposal fee... yeah, that's it, disposal fee.... to take this fake thing off your hands.
That's fair, right?

Eh, I must've glossed over that part in my enthusiasm. It happens sometimes.
