Penman Raiders Tips

I called John Penman and had to leave a message, maybe I will hear back from him tomorrow?

Any tips on what information I may need to have ready to place my order? I looked at his order form online but wanted to talk to him directly.

What forms of payment does he take by the way?

I think I paid him with paypal, but it's been a while.

The main info you want to give him is an accurate head measurement (do it a few times to be sure), and what you want in terms of hat style. Some have very specific brim and crown desires, others just go with John's instincts. Some have not just a movie, but a scene in mind that they want their hat to look like. I'm a bit... "picky" (only word I can think of that won't get censored out) about how stiff/floppy my brims and crowns are, so I usually bring that up.

You'll be in expert hands when you finally speak with him. I wouldn't worry.

Yes, I have seen the online sizing videos he offers; I feel pretty good about size...but I know he has his system and so that is why I want to talk to him not just email.

I just want to be sure that I can get it done with one phone call and when I get the hat, it fits and I am pleased with it.

I screwed up and ordered my LC jacket too short from Wested so I don't want to do wrong again.

I hate not being to 'test drive' out my gear.

Even in front of peter or my self you wouldn't be able to try it on. My hats are custom made to order so even if you walked into my hat shop you won't be able to try anything on.

I have my kid on Tuesday afternoon/nights so sonetimes I don't answer the phone when he wants to spend time with his old man.

John is hands on, so don't sweat leaving a message he will get back to you. He's got excellent customer service and will work with you personally with your hat wants and needs ( specifics). :TOH:

John is as proactive and engaged as vendors get here at COW. Buy with confidence.

When the paper tape measure crown comes in the mail & it fits, I assume I mail it back to Penman? It says in the video if it does not fit, use the other one and mail it back; so I assume I mail back the one that fits regardless.

My other thought was maybe he just needs an e-mail confirming the size?

Always ask John directly. If it fits all I need is the ema saying so.
