Noobie's Got A Brand New Bag...

I have trouble getting around, and needed a good, utilitarian bag that did not scream "purse". So I thought I'd find out what kind of bag Indy used... and wound up here!
I ordered a bag from Magnoli, and a strap from... elsewhere. Rather not say, as it was not much of a strap. Parts were noodly, and there was a flake of leather coming off it. So I looked around here and found that the WPG straps were well liked. So I ordered two... one for the Magnoli, one for the original I couldn't resist at WPG.
The WPG response said that tracking should show up in about three days. By that time, my order was in! A nice, new-looking, odor-free bag from WWII!
Then the tracking came in, and said the bag (sitting by me) was in Germany, heading my way. Sure enough, they'd accidentally sent a second order but not charged for it. So I contacted them and we worked out a fair price- no point sending it back.
So now I had 2 originals, one not quite as nice (new guy at the factory in 1942?), one original, and 4 good straps, plus one bad strap...
So I got some threadlock and silicone spray and leather dressing, and some high-grade rubbing alcohol and a copper scrubbing pad, and went to work. The bags should be pretty waterproof, the straps are not shiny, and are nice and flexible but strong. The silicone *may* have darkened the bags a bit, the dressing definitely darkened the strap, and seemed to make it more brown than reddish. And then I got my replacement Chicago screws from Springfield Leather, and replaced the rather small ones from WPG.
The Magnoli, being new, is my daily bag. I'll be using the better WWII bag as a "skedaddle" bag. The last bag is plenty strong but is just a hair less good-looking- I think I'll pass that on to a friend. I have one good strap and one bad one, minus its Chicago screw, left. I put the strap on he Magnoli "backwards" so it hangs to my right, and fairly high. I am not interested in SA, I am very interested in not smashing *another* tablet with my car door, as I did last winter with it in a jacket pocket... So far, no one has taken notice of it at all. I think I'll see about putting aluminum/padding shipping insulation around a Pringles can, and make the smaller compartment into a mini cooler for 2 cans of Coke... You know those metal things with slides you use to hook dog leashes onto the collars? If I can find the name and a source of them, I may make up two short straps so that in an emergency, I can carry the second bag below the first.
I finished up late last night, watching "Dragnet". I got a good laugh... Anyone else remember how every episode of "Dragnet" ended? I had *just* hung the last bag up as the company ID was run...
