Hello! I was just curious for those who have the Vibram lug soles on their Alden indy boots, have any of you went hiking in them? I have to get a new pair of hiking boots but I'm just curious if any of the members here have ever went out on a hike with their Indy Boots?

Re: Aldens with Vibrams
I HAVE hiked in my Indy boots but the modern hiking boots I think are still much more supportive and comfortable. The Indys work for sure but my Asolo gortex boots are amazing.
I've had these Indy shoes since about 1990. I've retired them as shoes but still use them for the Indy Halloween costume and they are now perfectly aged of course!
I'd maybe suggest to wear thicker socks when hiking in the 405's. That and the vibram sole could be a good thing!

Yeah, I have a pair of indy boots I bought back in 2003, and a pair I just bought this year. I wouldn't dare hike in the newer ones, but the older pair has a set of vibram lug soles. The same soles for the 404's? I think? Whatever the chuka boots are, and I'm curious as to how they fare on a hike. It would be mostly rocky terrain with little to no moisture.

I wore my 404s deer hunting in western NM last year- they held up fine but aren't as comfortable as my regular boots. I doubt I'd wear them again because I don't want to risk tearing up my expensive boots.
