Raiders turn problems on hat with pre existing pinch.
Has anyone put a raiders turn on a hat that already has a pinch and ended up with noticeable creses from the old pinch? Anyone know how to remove the creses?

Best thing to do is to have the hat reblocked and start again, although depending on the quality of the felt, it will probably "remember" some of the old crease.

It's an older HJ the felt seems better than the current stock.

How old? If it is truly vintage (Indy film era or earlier) I wouldn't mess with it.

That's the real challenge with the tight ROLA pinch, it's really hard to 'move' the bash without the crease still showing.
Even if the crease itself doesn't show, often the felt will be discolored at the line of the crease and that will be noticeable if moved.

If the crease is set in and it sounds that way. A re-block is going to be needed.

Who do you recommend for a reblock?

The original pinch is visible on the Raiders hat, so it could be a good thing. Might help to fold the crease the opposite way to make it less prominent, and maybe run a disposable shaver over it if some hairs are broken and sticking out. Course, the Raiders hat probably didn't have the pinch for long.

Interesting. I wondered if they had the same problem since I would think if they took a bashed hat and turned it then rebashed it. Thanks

I did the opposite. Since a turned hat doesn't work on my head, I decided to just center the pinch. I had to reblock it myself though, as there aren't any hatters here in the Philippines. Got out all signs of the old pinch.
