Fit For Ford...in Raiders!

Post by MARQ »

As if it hasn´t been asked before...what size jacket did Ford wear as Indy exactly? I know that "they" :D made different sizes for stunt-crew and Ford to use with pads and such through the trilogy. But what is the "one, true jacket size"....?

When Tony made the CS jacket, then copies of a Raiders jacket, he did a comparison, and the chest measurement across was 22.5" on both jackets. A lot of the measurements lined up exactly. So Ford was more likely a 40-42 depending on how you "grade" you chest measurements.

According to Noel Howard measurements, he was a size 40R in Raiders, and details further put him
a size 44 in LC.

Ford being six-footer he was slim in those days of Raiders and Star Wars, photos from the days prove it.So 40-42 sound´s right but knowing that he was weight-training for LC and ToD ,I believe the 44 as being true..which makes him my sizes at LC time.Speculation going on here.. :D ;) \:D/

Yup, size 40. Check the archive here for Nowak's measurements...

Something I always wondered was whether or not Ford's jacket may have been one size too small on him? I mean, it wouldn't surprise me if they made him a jacket one size too small in the chest to make him look bulkier and more rakish by doing so.

It wouldn't be unusual to do so.

Rumor has it that Daniel Craig's Billy Reid Skyfall peacoat was a size Medium for filming, whereas Craig purchased a size Large for personal use.

Not rumor - Medium was used for "Hero shots" and size Large was used for action sequences. Sticking with Skyfall as the example, the Tom Ford suits came in multiples of various sizes to be used based upon the requirements of the scenes.

Hahaaaa! I knew it! I made that very same conclusion, the jackets Ford uses in the movies through out vary slightly and the best looking ones are those that look little small (?) on him.The "off the shoulder" factor should be discarded then.....OR? :-k
