Dimensions of the ToD Fedora

Post by Obi Sean Kenobi »

Hi all,

Does anyone know, or have an approximation, of the dimensions of the ToD fedora ?

Crown height? Brim width?

I'm specifically interested in the bridge scene fedora....

Thanks!

Crown height 5.5" open crown
Brim 2.75" front/back x 2.5" sides

Approximately the measurements on the H.Ford's hats.

I would agree with that depending on block shape a tradition point. The crease crown height would be 4 1/2 but the specs changed a little on that hat but not as much as LC.

im wondering..do people just guess about all the sizes? all the different shapes? bash? etc?..OR is there actual written proof from the actual hat makers about all of these measurements we get? AND we know they make several hats for each movie. BUT what makes everyone think they are different? WHy would they block and make the hats different for one film? Im thinking some are just more distressed then others but same original build..maybe John Penman can clear that up if he knows the real history??

I can remember using an engineer's scale on photographs 30 years ago with a starting assumption that the ribbon width was 1 1/2" to try to figure out the dimensions. :? I came pretty close as it turns out.

Indy 4 hat we have without a doubt because of Steve. He also got some of the lowdown on the other hats because of having access to the big 3. The ribbon isn't exactly 1 1/2 inches either. You can use the photo layout to get the specs of the hats and you can clearly see that the specs of the LC hat was all over the place. More so then TOD.

This is Club Obi-Wan....the "cigar room" of discerning Indy fans.
We actually dissect the photos, compare scenes--examine the crowns and bashes from not just film to film, but scene to scene.

With all of the resources available, and the members we have here--it's not hard to pick out the differences.
Some members have had access to actual screen used fedoras.
