I have often thought of this....tell me if you have done it? Have you ever taken a mediocre jacket and made it an Indy jacket? You know, a jacket that did not necessarily have all the details correct, but you were determined? As a result of the wear and tear, come wind or rain, the distressing and elements it was exposed to retained that vintage, adventurer flavor, a rough and tumble 'goto' jacket, that certainly did not start out that way.

I'm convinced that it is not necessarily about the details, but the spirit inside a guy, that makes the jacket 'look' the part on the outside...thoughts, opinions...

Post 'em if you've got 'em....

I can't say I've taken a mediocre Jacket and converted it but I can say that my WINGS Antique Cowhide (which is not strictly SA) has certainly become what I would consider an "Indy Jacket".

I, like many others here always wanted to own an Indy jacket but given that I'm taller and not the same build as Ford I never obsessed with the idea of a perfect SA version because a SA Jacket wouldn't look right on my frame anyway so, why bother??

As I've mentioned before, my jacket has travelled to many, many countries from the Temples of Asia, Death Valley in the US, New Zealand, Africa - you name it and its been through a lot - rain, sunshine, abuse, beer, rocks, bushland, wild animals. Its also been "home" to Lucasfilm and Skywalker Ranch more times than I can remember and yes, George has seen it as well.

Being Cowhide its as tough as nails and it has developed a wonderful character over the years and I absolutely love it...

Great example of making it yours, Mark. The USW Hero and Adventurer projects, with back to back releases were real hits, a few years ago. The vintage cowhide leather really sold the jacket. Thanks for posting.

I agree, it's not about the accuracy. I remember a photo of Mark Seven here a few years ago. The jacket was a period half-belt. The hat wasn't accurate and he was wearing jeans, but he looked more "Indy" than some in full costume. It's largely about how it's worn.

I really like this one I got from US Wings - its not an Indiana Jones jacket at all, but then its got its own character and maybe that's why I like it.

Agreed! I remember seeing this one before. I just wish I could have gotten my size before they were dropped. Love the colour of the collar on yours! W>

Yeah its a really nice jacket and to be honest probably gets more wear than my Indy jacket thee days - its warmer and had the handy pen pocket on the upper arm as well. Collar is detachable if I want to go for a more classic look too.

In the years involved in this hobby I have come to realise that its never about finding the 'right' jacket, its about finding the right jacket 'for you'. I notice that I suit a jacket with an elastic waist more than one without. Doesn't mean I dont still love my GB Expedition but it will influence me in any future choices I make.

Sorry you were never able to source one WConly. You never know, one might turn up for sale some time on online auction or something.
