Todd's vs Westeds
Is there much difference in the weight and thickness of hide when comparing the Wested authentic lamb jacket against the Todd's lamb jacket circa 2012?
Re: Todd's vs Westeds
I have a 2013 wested and have held a 2012 todds. I didnt get a lot of time to examine the todds but the todds felt a lot lighter and thinner then my wested. From what i hear the todds are pretty much the lightest thinnest indy jackets out there.

Re: Todd's vs Westeds
In my personal opinion, having had both, I would say that the Todd's was just a tad bit thinner and lighter than the Wested but it would take some real scrutinizing to be able to tell the difference. I feel Wested dark brown lamb was as thin and light as Todd's older jackets while being more supple and drapey.

I read somewhere online that Todd's are made by kidnapped children using stolen SA sliders in a sweatshop underneath a royal palace, and Wested's are carefully hand crafted only in the springtime on the thighs of fair English maidens.

No, I made that up. The Wested is a thicker, better made item. The Todd's is nice and accurate.Cajunkraut wrote:I read somewhere online that Todd's are made by kidnapped children using stolen SA sliders in a sweatshop underneath a royal palace, and Wested's are carefully hand crafted only in the springtime on the thighs of fair English maidens.

Re: Todd's vs Westeds
I know a guy, who's married to the daughter of someone who saw one time the Raiders movie...wait! BUT in blu-ray.
And he told to my neighbor, somekind of a graphic designer -a photoshop guru-, that the Raiders jacket was thin calfskin!
So, forget about lambskin jackets, are all innacurate.

The silly retorts actually have little to do with your reply specifically. I think folks here have just read so many similar posts in the past that it's become parody.

Re: Todd's vs Westeds
In this day, 2012 included, the skins that the guys in Pakistan are using are more like the BK . Though not the exact same quality, striated lamb that looks like veg tan. On this level, you are comparing a $200 jacket with a custom made $300 jacket. The closest Wested has to this is their shrunken lamb. In terms of the thickness you might have a slight variation, such as comparing .8 mm to .9mm. The bigger picture is who sells a skin that most closely matches the film jacket? I'd give the slight edge to Todd with Wested's sl, a very close second. If a guy does not fit in a std sizing scheme then custom is the way to go. Pattern is also close but I give a slight edge to Wested in that category. Meeting your own requirements is the main issue. For the money, the $200 Todds is the best value. For a custom jacket, the $300 or so Wested custom is a good buy as well. Comparing the thickness of these two hides is immaterial, or the least of your worries. As time goes on, the differences between vendor offerings are becoming smaller, especially concerning thickness, as each vendor incorporates new tweaks into their line of offerings.Dr.JonesClone wrote:Is there much difference in the weight and thickness of hide when comparing the Wested authentic lamb jacket against the Todd's lamb jacket circa 2012?
The game changer was when TN received a Raiders jacket from the archives and copied it. As copies of these copies flew out the door, the chance for other vendors to get their hands on these replicas increased, as did the accuracy of the repros. You now have one vendor who makes a very accurate copy of the film jacket, with reasonably accurate copies being made by these two others.
