My Leather Soul Vintage Indy Alden boots arrived today!

Post by lantzn »

After a very LONG wait my order finally showed today. These boots are amazing, the look, the leather and even the smell. I've never owned a pair of Alden and was pleasantly surprised to see each boot wrapped in a plastic bag inside a suede bag. Talk about protection, the boots are even protected against each other!

I took photos inside under ceiling halogen lights and out under natural light.

More photos here.

Click on the link in my first post to see other photos, including the sole. I live in Washington State where it's very wet and the lugged sole is what attracted me to this offering.

Here's the original announcement and the restock info.

It looks almost like a suede leather? Is that what it is? Or normal leather with a different finish?

I like it....If it's suede, then not quite as useful, but I suspect it's normal leather right?

Though it has a suede like appearance it's not. I actually don't like how suede ends up when wet. They are made of oiled nubuck leather.

Description
Indiana Jones Fanatics are constantly trying to achieve “screen accurate” gear. We believe we are pretty close to acheiving that (along with a few major improvements as well) with our new Leather Soul Exclusive Vintage Indy Boots.

A follow up, or shall we say, Sequel, to our ever popular Ultimate Indys, these Vintage Indys are built with the same upgraded features such as Full Leather Linings, Higher Grade Leather (Vintage Oiled Nubuck), and a Leather and Commando Sole. We also chose an All Around Reverse Welt for a “cleaner” rugged look.

Here's a great closeup of the leather from their site.

They're nice boots. I've had a couple of pairs for about 4 years
The oiled Nubuck stands up pretty well but if you treat them with anything they lose the brushed look. They still look good, just not a matte finish. The full welt sole is a great improvement over the original too.

Thanks for the tip, I wasn't planning on treating them and now I surely won't. I love the distressed look of this leather.

Yeah, same deal with Wested's novapelle. It has that dry, semi-suede/brushed appearance, with neat little 'wear marks' on the sleeves. After a few coats of Pecards, the leather irretrievably darkens into a semi-gloss texture. Still retains the predistressed look, albeit uniformly and more subdued because of the dressing.
