I am in need, and am therefore asking, if anyone has specs for the TOD jacket? I own of Wested's but it's too large (which I knew when I bought it) and had the intent of having it altered down. I've contacted Wested so will wait to see what they say but am trying to get specs ready should they ask or require them. The spec's would be TOD HF size.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just heard back from Gemma at Wested and they say that they cannot alter a jacket down from a size 50 to a size 42 so I'm out of luck there. Yet I still cannot believe that there is NO ONE that can alter a jacket down to the size I want.

If anyone knows a place that does leather jacket alterations that you'd recommend that could alter the jacket to the size I want, I'd like hear your recommendations.

Altering a jacket from a size 50 to a size 42 would be an pretty huge job to do and would cost you pretty Nice penny as well and there is no guarantee it would look good after altering, It all Depends on the skills from the leather alter and finding one isn't easy either. They basicley have to handpick every stitch, recut the used leather and resew, It would be a pain.

Why not just buy a size 42? it would be cheaper!

I didn't realize how big of a job it would be to alter a jacket so thought if I could get a Wested TOD cheap, I'd have some wiggle room to alter it. As you're undoubtedly aware, Wested no longer makes the TOD jacket and so to obtain one is becoming harder to come by. If they'd still offer one, I'd definitely go the route of buying a size 42 and be done with it. Wested had an original TOD jacket they got their specs from, therefore making Wested the "go-to" place for the TOD.

I may have to put an ad in the Marketplace for a Wested TOD in a size 42, but I'm looking for HF specs as this jacket is for my permanent TOD section of my collection and will be used as a display piece.

I will admit that I'm a novice when it comes to the leather jacket section so any input you want to provide I'm all ears for.

Just give Peter a Call and I am sure he will make a TOD for you

Changing any piece of clothing that much won't work, especially in a jacket. Going down that much in sizing will make huge changes the way the sleeves connect to the jacket and the neck/shoulders are configured.

Essentially the entire jacket would have to be taken apart and each current piece would have to be treated like a rough piece of leather to be cut to size and reassembled. And it's not that "easy" since the leather pieces have already been cut and sewn so it limits the ability for them to be used fully.

By the time all that work was done, it would be cheaper to just make a brand new jacket.

THere is a lady named Dana Hamilton at "Great Leathers" in Illinois. She is taking 3.5 inches in length out of a Wested for me. Granted, there will be a seam in the center, but she can sew it in character with the rest of the jacket. Its a novapell jacket. I sent it to her last week and we talked about it for about an hour. Shes going to do it like a suit jacket, sort of, by taking it from the middle panel. That will set the pockets and everything else right, back where they should be. (I got it from a forumite that is taller than me, but it ended up being too long).

I can keep you posted with how it turns out if you PM me. She did some great work on an 80s vintage Orchard A-2 for me last year-repairing seams, fixing cuffs and bands. Neat, clean, and not very expensive.
