Hi to all,
Recently I bought this Morgan Bullwhip on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/David-Morgan-Bu ... 7675.l2557" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I would like some help from your side. That is, in what year it may have been made this whip.
Initially I thought it was the end of the 00's, made at the request of a customer who wanted a 80's look. Then the seller told me that should be of 90s, but He don't remember anything else and unfortunately lost the copy of the receipt during a move...

For some years I'm looking for information on the whips Morgan, but honestly I've never heard of this "special edition", but no matter what, I liked the whip for the difference of the handle than the other in my collection.

I wrote to Will Morgan but he doesn't remember of this whip and was unable to tell me anything.
Anyone who saw this as a whip or know some more information please let me know.
They are also welcome comments or thoughts.

Many thanks.

Something like this recently came up on another forum. If you can get the name of the original owner, you can ask the people at David Morgan. They were able to track a whip made in the 80's just from the buyers name if I remember right.

Doesn't look like a 90s Morgan to me and I'm pretty sure David Morgan flattly refused to make whips according to customer specs. Are you sure it's not a well used DelCarpio being passed off as a Morgan?

Thanks guis for the answers!

Unfortunately don't know the name of the first owner :(
The seller is looking of old bills ebay to track your nickname...

I knew it was possible to search in the archive of David Morgan Shop only from 1990 onwards...

moses:
I also always knew that Mr. Morgan belonging exception of a few colors and lengths, has never made whips according to the requirements and specifications of a customer, especially in the ring knot, though, having seen many pictures of Morgan whips particular, everything is possible...

I also thought it could be a vintage Del Carpio, and to be honest considering the purchase price, I'd be happy anyway, but the similarity with Morgan whips is unparalleled. Also, I have purchased many whips, wrapped perceive if there is something wrong, but in this case I have no way of thinking that there are secrets behind, the seller I thought it was honest.

However, the whip is still on the road, as soon as I arrive I will compare them with other Morgan whips of my collection..

Actually, there was a brief period back in the late 90's/early 2000's where Morgan actually did a bit of whip customization for customers. I requested a shorter handle on my third Indy #455 series bullwhip, and he complied without saying a word. On the whip tag, he wrote: DM #453 Special, 8 ft 12 plait. The "glory days" were short-lived when people began making requests on almost every Indy whip order, and Morgan quickly put an end to it. :?

Whip came today.
To be honest, I have many Doubts about Manufactory.
Comparing it with other whips Evaluating the details and I think it's to Del Carpio whip :-k
I've been a bit too hasty in buying, it's my fault unfortunately. The pictures were not very clear but the resemblance with the whip Morgan is impressive, there was only the buttknot That did not convince me, and what I saw good.

I have 3 of whips and Bernardo as both ring and butt knots that features very similar.
Also there are other details evident. For example, the fall is very Often, like the other Del Carpio whips.

I also wrote to Bernardo, I hope he Recognizes or remember of this whip.

I sent mail to the seller, now await answer then we'll decide how to proceed. I like the whip, and maybe I would have bought anyway, but not in this way.
I don't know if the seller was dishonest or was just not informed about the whip... Probably will ask for compensation... :(

If I can, I put some pics of comparison tonight.

That's too bad. I have to admit I would have been very surprised if it was by Morgan. The only whips of his with those dimensions I've seen were from the mid-eighties, and they still looked a little different. But then again, if he really did a series of special customer orders..who knows? It will be interesting to hear what Bernardo has to say.

I checked the pics on the Ebay auction, and I can say for sure that IT IS NOT a Morgan. I could be one of mine, but I need to see bigger pics to be 100% sure.

The close up of the tapered handle reminded me of your TOD version Bernardo - which is partly why I thought it might be one of yours.

Thanks Bernardo for your attendance.

I managed to get a partial refund for the incorrect information and keep the whip with me, it was what I wanted.

moses:
Yes, it would be nice if there were some screen accurate 90's Morgan whip.
I agree that it is a ToD Style

I have not cracked it yet, but the weight of the handle and of all whip and the braiding also is very similar to Morgan whip.

Yes, I like this whip, Is very screen accurate..

actually I'd get a vintage Morgan of the early 80's or even mid 80's to complete the circle of my Morgan whip collection...
