Problem with a whip?

A couple of years ago I purchased a whip on eBay which looks suspiciously like a DM whip. It's very well constructed, and in nice condition. However, I've noticed that where the main body of the whip enters the handle, that it feels as if something has broken inside, as it bends what seems to me way too much for that area. Now, I know nothing about whips, as should be obviously by my use of the technical terms "whip body" and "handle." Is this normal? Is it a problem? If it is a problem, which I assume it is, is it repairable? Should I bother?
I can post photos if anyone would like.

Sounds very strange. Can you post some pictures of it? At the very least we can get an idea of who may have made it, and that will tell us what may be inside the whip as far as materials go. If it was made by an unknown maker, and something feels "broken", who knows what was used for the handle or the core at the transition point of the thong/handle. If something is broken at that point on the inside of the whip, it probably won't be able to be fixed without taking the whole whip apart , fixing it, and then remaking the whip. In other words, just buy a new whip. But let's start with some pictures and take a look at it.
