i can't remember what the old pictures looked like before . but i see the price is a bit higher than last week and he has more sizes in stock, but lower than the original price. so a good deal for a decent style hat, it is stiff but still one nice hat.

Looking pretty good! - I might open my wallet but would like to see some other photos first as I have an obsession with getting a hat with perfectly straight sides haha!

I've a quick question regarding the "stiffness" of his hats, how do you get them to looser / floppy. Or is it even possible.
Thanks you.

I just got a downtower. you could call it version 3, because
1. its not as stiff as it was,
2. crown seems a bit higher than the version 2 but smaller than version 1
3. it has a darker more movie accurate ribbon.
i love it. its a really good hat for the price.

i haven't tried it , but i guessing giving it a good water soaking , may remove a lot of the stiffening, but then you may have to rebash it.

Water? Nope. Steam and water can actually reactivate the stiffener. Aside from wearing it a lot, denatured alcohol will get some of the stiffener out.

ahhhh good to know . i still like my hat stiff , my raider hat is nice and crushable , but alas the color has faded from brown to a greenish tint. i wonder if i can dye it ?

I ordered mine late in the day and just recieved a message that it is on its way! Impressive but not surprised as Todd`s has always had great customer service. I am in no need of an Indy fedora but at the price and Todds attempts to get an accurate copy of Raiders paraphanelia, I couldnt resist!

I'd noticed that on the new line of Todd's hats when I saw my mates hat here in Tokyo....I suspect re-dying them would be impossible, since you'd need to soak the whole body to get a uniform colour? And that's not really an easy or practical thing to do...But yeah, the green undertone was a little offputting..

As I recall some of the early Akubra Federations had the same problem with the 'greenish tint' peeking through after they had faded.

I ad a newer one in for a cleaning and reblock and they still do.

I don't suspect that it's impossible, Bob Jessee of Black Sheep Hat Works does a lot of his own hand dyed bodies. Though it is probably impractical for folks like us who are just hat enthusiasts.

My understanding is the type of dyes being used.

The Oakster loves to reblock a downcrowner.
