I went shooting this weekend (pics and videos)
My wife and I spent a couple hours at the range yesterday going over gun safety, operation, and just plain having fun shooting holes in paper. I had three goals; teach my wife a bit about gun safety, test out my Walther PPK/S, and play around with fast reloads of the S&W 1917. Without any practice whatsoever, I had 5.8 seconds between the last shot of the first clip and the first shot of the second clip. With only five minutes of practice following that, I managed to shave 2 seconds off that time, and my wife captured a cool fireball while filming me, and she looks pretty good, herself, shooting the revolver!

It's a reproduction US Army M41 field jacket from AtTheFront.com, but I suspect you already suspected that

Nothing like a good day at the range to relax and have some fun. Nice!

Those S&W 1917's shoot nice, don't they?
I bought mine to make an Indy replica, but don't have the heart to chop it. I'm keeping an eye out for a more "beater" gun for the conversion now.

You probaby would feel less guilty chopping a newly produced 1917 or HE2 like S&W still makes. They make one of them, i forget which. Since its new and has no historical value, chop away!Trebor wrote:Those S&W 1917's shoot nice, don't they?

While the new ones have no collector's value, they cost more than ones that do. Mine is Brazillian stamped, and while it functions great, the finish is in rough condition with mild pitting all over - the perfect gun to chop up. I intentionally steered away from the "US ARMY" stamped ones with holsters, etc., but there are plenty out there of non-collectable, but shootable quality.

I was actively looking but then I went for another CAS gun. About to pick up my Ruger New Vaquero. M1A, or 1917 are next.Mark Brody wrote:While the new ones have no collector's value, they cost more than ones that do. Unless youd like to donate one to me!!!

Yeah, I had some trouble with YouTube lately, and had to close the account. I'll work on reporting them tonight, probably compiled into one video.

Nice job and nice improvement. Is the hammer cut off on this gun?

The photo is actually my first 1917. It had a broken hammer. The one I'm shooting in the video is my second 1917 - I traded the first one in.

Ok. Thanks for the clarification.
