I tried to do my homework, I really did. I decided I want a Wested goat jacket. This means a custom. My question is which movie jacket. Most likely I'll let it weather naturally. I would perfer a Raiders, but my body may be LC. Im 5'10", 185ish #, 33 jeans and 44 size suit. The tapered 80's fit makes me leary. Does anyone my bodytype have the Raiders, or anyone have advice?

I'd go for a Wested Gero in Goat!!! Honestly, I've seen many members in both styles of all sizes and it still looks good but that's jmo.

Remember that the LC though a looser fit....the arms, etc will ride up when you raise them because it lacks the gussets that the Hero has. Peter might be willing to add the gussets to the LC but make sure and talk to Peter direct.

As of right now the hero is not coming in goat (I think). Figured I would have to order a custom in goat and have it styled exactly like the hero. I just didn't know if the taper on the raiders would be too small. I'm sure I would fit in it, but I dont know how tight it would be around the waist.

That's the beauty of the Indy jacket. If you loosen the side straps you get a lot of leeway.

You can contact Wested and order your jacket in any leather. You just have to talk to them.

An LC in goat would work well, one piece of advice. Don't order too short. It's very easy to get carried away with screen accuracy and belt positions and end up with something that feels uncomfortable in day to day wear. But also don't go nuts, the 28-29" jackets are for very tall people!

Goat doesn't wear much naturally so keep that in mind. JMO.

Very true...learned this one the hard way, that's why all of my Wested's now have gussets! Makes a world of difference. W>

I love work computers. I had typed a long reply, then it disappeared. I appreciate the help. It looks like it will be a Raiders custom in goat with the hero specs. I just want it to look right on me. Not too woried if it is not 100% SA. And the gussets will help with the jacket rise?

I really wouldn't spec everything, the Hero does the job. You can tell them your chest size and waist size and they can adjust for you. They can cut the body fuller if you need.

I chose that wording because the site doesnt show the hero in goat. Thats all.

I would send Gemma/Peter an email regarding the goat. I would think they would be able to make it for you. After all the grief I put poor Gemma through on my last (worn-wear-hide) LC/CS, I know that she is very patient to deal with (as is Peter, from my past direct dealings with him)! W>

Just got a Hero in goat recently. It's very nice, but, as has been stated here, it's gonna take forever to look very distressed. Like a G&B Expedition.

That was the easy part. The hard part is getting the bosses permission. It shouldnt be too difficult. I just got her an abbyshot Tennant coat.

Not exactly. Did I mention I just got a Vader helmer (Darth Ugly)?

I'm still trying to figure out what exactly is the RotLA and LC body types??

I wonder which I have??

I may have this all wrong but I thought the Raiders was a tapered cut while the Crusaders is more forgiving around the waist line.

Just saw that wested changed their website, now you can have a choice for the gussets for the LC Custom.

Suddenly.... I'm seeing an LC with gussets in horsehide hanging in my closet....

I think I really want that Raiders. I proached the jacket with my wife and she was suprised I had not bought it yet. That sounds like permission to me. Now to get measured and wait for overtime pay.

Actually Im OK. Once given she doesn't retract permission. I'm the one who makes or collects all of her costumes. I'm also actively working on 2 for her right now.

I think it really depends on how the hide was tanned and finished.
I don't know about the goat hides Peter is currently using, but, I have a Hero in the "New Soft Goat" that is distressing beautifully, and much quicker than I expected, just from normal wear.

Unfortunately, I don't see it as an option on their site anymore.
Too bad, it's probably my favorite hide out of any of the jackets I've ever owned from any company.

I have an LC/CS custom that I bought several years back and I requested gussets (it was a standard drop-down option when I bought it).
The gussets don't seem to do anything to cure the "rise" when I lift my arms. I think it is just a part of the pattern, what with the large armholes and the sleeves being attached so low on the body. The screen used LC jackets seem to behave the same way.
For gussets to work, they need to be right up in your armpit (Like my Hero, which has wonderfully functional gussets)

I hate Hate HATE jackets that rise up So much that even though I LOVE the LC style, I said I'd never order one again. I was hoping this would solve the issue.

Typical my luck. Jacket came in day before yesterday, but I had already left for work. Ups left a note for yesterday. My wife waited, but they didnt show up when they said, now missed day 2. Interesting thing is she said on the notice it looks like I owe Ups money (like a cod). Does this sound right? I get off for 3 days tomorrow. Hopefully I can get my jacket. We had a heat index of 98° today. I need my jacket.

That would be the customs charges that shipping services pay up front at the time the item is brought through US Customs. You thereby owe the shipping service (UPS,DHL...) upon delivery. Some services send you a bill and you can mail them a check. Happened during my Wested purchase. Will most likely run you about $30. That's been my experience.

In another thread recently a member had the same type charge, but had to pay by money order or bank check. Personal checks and credit cards were not accepted. Would probably be worth making a call to UPS to verify.

Thanks for the info. I also need to find out where my nearest ups is located. In in beween three different ones, about 45 minutes away from each.

I got off graveyards and had to go after my jacket. I had five days at the Ups center then it would be sent back to Wested. I work the rest of the days, so it was a 30 min nap then a 45 min drive. Love the jacket, but its alot lighter then Im used to. Its almost like a heavy denim shirt instead of a leather jacket. Of coarse I have only had insulated winter jackets til now. And I know the thread is useless without pictures. I'll try and get them up soon.
