In the spirit of adventure...

For some time now, I have been looking for a throwback 'adventure' type jacket that wasn't an exact copy of an Indy jacket, but still captured the "adventuring spirit". After some trial and error, I found this one from BR, and could not be happier! It could be one of the best leather jackets I ever bought. The leather is thick and looks to be veg tanned because of its rich color and warm undertones, and features quilted lining for warmth. The jacket is waist length, form fitting, and practical....what more could a guy ask for in developing your own style?
Saved some money on an Ebay purchase:

What other
"close enough" jackets have you found that are reminiscent of the throwback Indy adventurer?

DUUUUDE! I was so close to buying that jacket! Saw them in person and they were lovely and I just kept thinking about how cool they would look once they were broken in. Just couldn't bring myself to buy it as I already have 4 Banana Republic leathers. I know they are sometimes lumped in with "mall" jackets but I have loved everyone I own... The leather is always awesome and never had any problems with their quality. Good find on that one you posted. .... it really is a very cool rugged looking jacket.

When I think 'non-Indy adventure leather jacket' this is what comes to mind.

Thanks, guys. Let's say for instance that you are developing your own 'adventure' style, but using Indy as an influence, do you have a jacket that has the flavor, but is not a blatant copy of the film jacket?
Close enough jackets in your own style?
this thread could be linked with others like it, suggesting that if a person were to take his inspiration from IJ and his 'get up' as it appeared on screen, how could "the look" be adapted with modern, updated clothing? Threads such as, "Taking IJ to Its Ultimate Conclusion" and others.

Did anybody see that Zahi Hawass allegedly launched his own line of 'adventure' clothing? I say 'allegedly' because I came across this when a former Egyptology student of mine 'Tweeted' it, and we've yet to determine if it's a really inspired parody or the real deal. A bunch of us have been left curious, so good job, whoever came up with it.
ANYWAY, here is the jacket, a true Indy ripoff...errr, homage, if e'er there was!

He started it a few years ago when he was still the Director of Antiquities of Egypt. His first item was the hat, which he claimed all proceeds were going to the museum, but his detractors said otherwise. Looks like he's expanded his offerings now that he no longer has the directorship.
Note the price ($0.00) and site copyright (2010). One can only wonder if this site is even live now. His company doesn't show up in a BBB search either.
Anyway......

Funny thing is, i have a jacket that i bought from Dillard's, many many MANY years ago that looked exactly like that. Had the side straps but no vents. Super lightweight and soft but just didnt hang right without the actual vents. $395.00. I even had vents cut in but then got a Wested soon after and never looked back. I dont think it was actually his brand but darn if it doesnt look exactly like it.
