Todds boots weathered up nicely

Post by sgmorton »

So took a brand new pair of Todds for a run. Started in the creek got them soaked, then a 1 mile run which ended up killing my knees. Then back to the creek for some exploring. Lastly a stop at nice dirt pile where I kicked and skimmed crawled and otherwise scuffed em up. I am very happy with the outcome. Click the pic for a couple more.

Well done, sir. I am about to start distressing my gear. Starting with my jacket, then boots. Although, the boots may get done sonner. :TOH:

That's the way to do it. Semi-natural distressing by actual wear. No need for sandpaper and wire brushes.

I like to call it accelerated natural wear. I do that with all my costumes when possible.

Just a cautionary note....keep an eye on the seams when you do that kind of roughing up and soaking in water. They are the weakest links in the chain, and if they start to rot or give out from being abrased or cut with rough wear, no matter HOW good the leather looks, the shoe falling apart will definitely be a negative. ;)
