Is the bottom of Indy's holster plugged or open?

Most screen captures make it look like it's open, but I can't tell for sure. I want to shorten my WPG holster, and if I could do it without replacing the plug in the bottom, it would make the job much easier.

I can't say for sure but I thought the only one that had the plug removed was the CS Webley holster. The plug was removed and sewed up at the bottom.

The more you look, the more you learn...side by side pictures of the gun belt for the gear page link-is one picture reversed or did Indy always reattach the holster to the gun belt? The belt end is on the right in the first picture and on the left in the second.

With all due respect to Harrison's costume designer on Crystal Skull, liberties were taken with the outfit, exceeding any changes between the prior three movies. Not only was the gun belt reversed, the bag strap was on the outside, and both belts were threaded through the whip holder.

I thought it was because of all the wisdom he had gained over the years. He realized it was wiser to wear the bag over his jacket. He never got over the feeling of helplessness hanging on that tanks gun.

I hate to turn this into another bag strap discussion, but there is a brief 2 seconds in CS where you can see that he is wearing the bag underneath the jacket. Probably just a quick pick-up shot on his way to lunch, so they probably didn't care that much, but it's still worth noting.

Raiders, ToD, LC the holsters are plugged... fact. It seems in CS it may be sewn shut.

Greetings Folks,
Minn. Jones owns the original screen-used ToD holster and it is plugged.

I own the original screen-used LC holster and it is plugged.

True. However, I have found a local guy that repairs leather shoes, luggage and handbags, so I'll probably take it to him and see what he'd charge to shorten the holster and stitch the plug back in. I've blocked a few leather holsters, and customized many Kydex holsters, but my experiments in stitching leather have taught me to leave that to a pro.
BTW, Gunslinger Rex, nice avatar pic!!! :H:
Thanks! I'm surprised my wife managed to take a decent photo with a bullwhip cracking in her general direction. :whip:

I suspect if it were an intentional decision based on that reasoning, someone on the film wouldn't have been able to resist demonstrating how clever they were with a bit of dialog explaining that fact.

I put the 'bag over the jacket' change as a way of Bernie Pollack putting his 'signature' on the character's look. He became HF's personal costumer in the years after LC so I'm sure he couldn't resist making some of this character his own.

But...back to our regularly scheduled programming on holsters....
