Aldens in the UK?

Post by Zoltar »

This question pops up every know and again but here we go again and maybe thiers a Floridian who can answer the last part ;) !

The options for getting a pair of Aldens in the UK are limited to say the least, the UK stockist seem to think the exchange rate is 1:1 :x I'm seriously considering getting my hands on a pair though so import seems to be the way to go. European stockists will avoid Import tax but the prices are sky high :( . How have other UK members gone about snagging theirs?

J crews seem to pop up on ebay regulary that's one route I might take.
Another thought is I'm taking the family to Disney World in October, what would the chances of picking up a pair in Florida?

Thanks Michaelson
The Winter Park store is pretty close by  I get in touch to see what they stock.
Are Aldens generally only available from the official stores?

Usually. Some of the better stores can carry them, but it's a gamble.

Good idea to call in advance. That way they could have time to get your size 'in house' before you ge there to try on.

Just recieved a reply, John Craig don't carry 405 or 403's :(
Any Locals know of anywhere else to try?

I'm a try before you buy man with footwear and as these probably cost more than my foot expenditure for the last 5 years so I'd really like to find somewhere I can walk in and get them spot on. Then walk back out grinning like a maniac :D

End. clothing in Newcastle UK stock them for £419, thats $656  If I can find some in Florida it will definatly save me a few quid ($) ;)

Was just crushing around eBay and someone is selling the 405 boot for £150. Too small for me but may fit someone here.

Well, keep in mind, these shoes are rebuildable, so if they're not TOO tired, they CAN be rebuilt by a good cobbler and you're still ahead of the game.

Just a thought... :TOH:

If I knew of a good cobblers I'd be all over them. All the cobblers near me cut keys too, with the problems I've had with new keys there's no way I'd trust any of them with a pair of Aldens!
