What is 'Florentine?'

I've heard about 'Florentine' routines involving dual snakewhips in a few Web pages, posts, etc.

So... What exactly is 'florentine,' anyway?

Flourentine style is also used in refference to using two swords at once.
I will have to learn more of why that term is used.
