Soooo I had to have the liner of my wested replaced last year, it was getting worn and snagged on one side, well it is starting to happen again, I spoke with peter and was told that he could replace the lining with a material of my choosing but I would need to send the material to him. I am concidering doing this my question is, I want a material that is lightweight, strong, and breathable that does not snag. ant ideas? I was thinking of a brown ripstop nylon. Input welcome and needed, thanks.

Doesn't US Wings do repairs too? Don't get me wrong peter is awesome but might be a little closer to ship and cheaper. Wouldn't hurt to call! Just trying to help.

I found a woman to change my liner and a few for Michaelson in my town by looking up seamstress in the yellowpages. None of the ones in the paper worked on leather but one did refer me to her sister that did. I've gone to her for 3 years now and she's working on one at the moment for me. Plus, she's cheap, $25 a jacket but then again She knows how to work this style of jacket since she's done it so often.
The good thing about working with a seamstress is that they will be able to advise a good material to use for your liner to meet what specifications you need. They can also tell you where to find it or get it for you. Mine has always picked mine liner material up for me and has dyed it to whatever color I've asked. I've been more than impressed with the results each time.
I'd at least call around your area first. That way if there is an issue you can talk directly to the person that did the work and you won't have to deal with shipping costs. If no seamstress works on leather in your area ask if they know anyone that does. I bet you'll have better luck that way and probably save a few bucks.

"Michaelson" no, Wings does not repair or re-line jackets, FYI.
US Wings doesn't do their own repairs, but they recommend Arrow Leather (
http://www.arrow-care.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) out of Kansas City, MO for any services that would be needed for US Wings jackets anyways. So that might be an option as well.

What liner material did TN use in the CS jackets? That stuff seems indestructible!

Are you 100% sure? Maybe they don't no more? Call and ask for Rita she'll take good care of you.

OMG!!!!
$109.95 to get the liner replaced with shipping...
Again, use the Yellowpages or google your town for a seamstress. I can't see anyone paying that price. I mean, on a good day you could pick up one of their jackets for that price

True! Then again I bet it's still cheaper than Wested?

You're probably right. Add Duty Fees with shipping costs and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

My guess is Wings sends jackets out for repairs to either Arrow or Schott's. I've toured their HQ in Ohio and didn't see any manufacturing/repair shops on site. Schott's also lists Arrow on their site as a resource for repair and restoration.

100 to 150 bucks is the usual price for this work. I'd go a breathable poly twill or the DuPont ripstop nylon.

After looking around I think I am going to go with the DuPont ripstop nylon, I am looking for it in a brown color to at least mimic the original color.

You're kidding, right?
Yeah. I'm 110% sure. They forward it on to a subcontractor and have done so for years.
Wings does no such work at their shop and haven't since their Stow, Ohio shop got flooded out and essentially destroyed years ago.

Ok gotcha! I miss understood you. US Wings might not do the repairs, but they do offer the service. I wouldn't want anyone touching my old reliable!

Bringing this one back to the surface rather than starting a new thread.
For Christmas I bought my Bride a NWOT LBJ (same model as worn by Lucy Lui on Elementary and Anna Torv on Fringe) at less than half of retail because the lining of the left sleeve had been rotated 360 degrees from the shoulder to the cuff essentially closing off the sleeve at the elbow. How it even made it out of the factory is beyond me, but otherwise the jacket was perfect.
I sent it to Arrow for the repair. Did everything completely online. Filled out the repair request, they e-mailed me a FedEx shipping label (tracking both ways), sent it off, and a couple weeks later received a perfect repair job. Just over $50 with insured shipping included.
Moral of the story, if you need work done, I can highly recommend Arrow.

Indiana Jeff

Long time no post...but came on here to find the answer to this very question
Being in the UK is sometimes advantageous, in this case I've just spoken to Wested (it may even have been Peter, it's been a while and I'm no good at identifying people by their voices) and a replacement is £30 (plus I'm assuming return shipping). At today's exchange rate that's ~$50 plus shipping.

Just make sure you get good material, otherwise you'll be needing it again soon.

Peter quoted £50 GBP to me last week, for those interested in a Wested repair. That would exclude shipping both ways.

Who would you all recommend for a liner replacement for one of Todd's jackets? I contacted them a while back and they don't do liner replacements.
