Specific hat ribbon

I'm trying to convert my old Federation 3 into a Tom Baker Doctor Who hat and so far everything is going smoothly except that I can't seem to find a good ribbon anywhere. 2" grosgrain is hard to come by in any color, much less that perfect shade. So far I've found a chocolate brown with a little too much purple in it and it doesn't have the nice bound edge most grosgrain has on it. I also tracked down some golden brown ribbon that feels really cheap. I could ignore the cheapness, but it's just way too gold. What I'm looking for is a dark-ish brown ribbon (no where near as dark as Indy's) with sort of the same greenish tint as the Fed 3. Does anybody know of a place that might carry that?

Possibly contact Hats Direct? I know they do customs, they might have what you want...

My default answer for this is call Optimo in Chicago. 2" ribbon is just hard to find, period. Not only because proper hat ribbon is in short supply, but 2" went out of style long before hats went out of style. I would also shoot some emails to custom hatters like Falcon Park Hattery, Tumwater, Blacksheep Hat Works, etc. For example, Bob at Black Sheep Hatworks has this espresso ribbon that might do the trick:


He also hand dyes ribbon, so you might want to give him a call or shoot him an email. I can attest to the quality of his work. The hat pictured above was almost my hat!
