Indy's Bull Whip

I have a question I have been pondering for some time now. I have a joe strain whip and it does not hang on my whip holder like indy's. My whip shape is more like a circle, whereas Indy's whip holds on his belt in an oval shape.

Also, the bend in his whip near the handle is much more extreme than i'm even willing to consider putting my joe strain through. (it is as though the thong is completely broken on indy's whip) I've seen pictures of the whip on MK's web site and the thing looks like it has gone under major abuse. The whip looks like its rope they way it hangs.

So the question is this, why does Indy's whip look so (extreme oval shape), and mine does not (circle shape). In addition, is the whip in Vic's home a david morgan?

Thanks for your imput! :)

Well...my guess is that Indy´s have much more age and mileage...

Use that whip every day for about a year, and it'll hang in oval coils eventually.

My guess is they probably did some distressing of the whips for the shots when it's just hanging there to fit the rest of the costume.

The whips in Raiders weren't directly supplied by DM for filming, so I am to understand. They already belonged to one of the stunt guys. (Terry Leonard or Vic I think??)

The whips would have already been aged and weathered through time and use, so would have been naturally distressed to hang that way. Then the latter films would have been artificially distressed to match the originals.

that's just my opinion.

Glenn Randall Jr., did supply 5 of his DM whips for Raiders. So they were already broken in, not distressed. Just be patient and your tightly coiled whips will soon be loose. In fact, I find that tightly wound whips, you can control much more easily.

Take Care...

Sergei, Thanks! This web site is stuffed with knowledge. That is good news because I practice with my whip an hour each day. Can do multiple cracks now. Just had to share. Thanks for the input guys!! :D
