Hi there!

This is my first message on the board, so I wanted to introduce myself.

I'm from Switzerland (the land of chocolate, cheese, watches and mountains *g*) and have been an Indyfan since I was 5.
Those days, my father took me with him to see LC, and I have to say, I LOVED IT!!!
I've just started to get the whole gear, so the only thing I own by now is a Akubra Fed Deluxe.

Now, I want to buy a whip, but as because I'm a student (studying law at university in Fribourg), my funds are limited.
I first favourized the Keppler, but when I found ECwhips, I saw the (not too expensive either) Budget Indy (8 plait).
I've cracked whips a few times yet, so I know that I can handle a 10', but my question is:

Is the 8 plait whip a good thing? Is it durable? Or would it be better to go with a 12 or 16 plait? I won't use the whip for excessive cracking, just the occasional crack and for display use.

Hi Xerox,

Welcome aboard! The 8 plait whip is very durable. It's not quite as heavy as the 12 plait, but it's solid and built to last. I use a very thick core underneath the belly, and I use a lot of binding at the handle/thong junction to compress the leather and make that area strong so it won't become limp. You can email me privately if you want to discuss the whip more. njwhipmaker@ecwhips.com

Best regards,
Jim

I aggree,
jims whips are built to last and look real nice.
from a use standpoint, 8 to 16 plait works just the same.
welcome to cow! dont rule out nylon whips, they are
real cheap.
