Todd´s Raider

Post by MARQ »

This is what the Fedorapage says in COW..does it match the Raider that Todd offers? Does the dimensions apply to all sizes of the Fedora,the"60cm" too..
The specifications for the actual hat Ford wore are reportedly as follows:
Size: 7 ¼ (size 58 European)
Crown: 5 ½ (5.5) inches
Brim (front & back): 2 ¾ (2.75) inches
Brim (sides): 2 5/8 (2.625) inches
Ribbon: 1 ½ (1.5) inches (39mm)

Im a big fan of Todds, so it pains me to post this. I'm just not at all happy with the hat I recieved. Most of the measurements are spot on with the exception of the side brim. The one that was sent to me was only two inches, way off center with the bow, and the color is a dirty dark brownish color. I like to bash my own so I ordered it open crowned, but wasn't able to get the shape i wanted due to two large globs of glue both in front and back. I know he has a great return policy but due to my own laziness I Haven't as of yet. I love a challenge so I'm still working with it. My experience is probably the only one, and will not in any way prevent me from ordering from Todd's again.

YES!! Finally someone else posted that they experienced this too!! People have asked me why I returned my hat to Todd's and I tried to explain the issue with the glue spots at the top of the crown used to hold the liner. The glue dries really hard and they seem to land right where you would create the center dent (at the back) and the pinch. I returned it to Todd and wrote a letter to him explaining these areas of concern. Maybe he can look into it. There are many people pleased with his hats and I'd hate for him to lose customers for little details like this.

Yeah I had to work around the glue drops myself, but I just wish it was a darker brown.

Agreed, I flipped a coin between the two...I've really have, to stop making my decisions that way.

I finally just said to heck with it, and seeings as I'm not going to return it, I ripped the liner from the top and got lucky. The globes of glue came with. I can now bash it as I want. Still think the side brim is to short but I think it turned into more of a Temple looking lid.

as i said in my video review , i think the hat looked more like a last crusade style bash, than a raiders. but oh well if we had seen pictures of the hat when Todd had us vote for a name we could have called it "the crusader?" John and i talked a bit about his troubles with his hat , i'm glad he was able to work something out. i've had my hat now for months and i still like it . the colore is still a brownish /green tint. so i'm thinking this may be the hat i turn into my worn hat , maybe add fuller 's to it and i'm ready to fight the evil doer's . lol :)

I find this all very interesting. I purchased a 60cm Raiders Fedora cause I'm a 59.5 and the side brim is almost 2.5 inches. No "glue globs" as described, no problem manipulating the bash or pinch. Perhaps the afore mentioned fedoras were made on either a Monday or a Friday! LOL!!! :H:
