Is there a way to smooth out textured leather?

Hey there guys!

I was able to get my hands on a super old Harley Davidson biker jacket in a Dino-Hide lambskin. Is there any possible way to make the leather less pronounced or get the Dino-Hide to be less exaggerated?

Two methods I've been thinking of:

1. Repeated leather conditioning
2. "Ironing" the leather (though that ALREADY seems like a bad idea)

All thoughts welcome! Thanks!

You might be able to wet the leather and put something heavy on it until it dries. I'd think you would have to do this a panel at a time. Slow going.

I'd advise strongly against using a hot iron on it!

I agree with Weston, though I find it ironic, most around these parts are trying to increase the texture of the leather, not smooth it. :D

Wetting and stretching the leather may smooth the hide a bit, but then, you'll be stretching the leather so there's the likely possibility it the jacket will be too big.

Can you post pictures?
