by ReturningSon
Just want to show off my Nowak Striated Lambskin raider.
The jacket is like new, has not been worn or even broken in so take that into consideration...Also, the lighting is horrible but I have the day off so...
Exact HF specs and sizing. Im 5'10, 165lbs, athletic build...
Pic in terms of
truest color
Note The reddish undertones..
sweet!!!
and finally, the cause of many a sleepless night...the
striations...
In short, love this baby...
Still in the market for a Smoother shrunken lamb Nowak so if you have a smoother SL, hit me up!!!!

Was that the Dino-hide?
Just curious, it's been awhile since I've seen it.
That is a good looking jacket dude!

Interesting to note how much thicker and striated yours appears to be to the film version. I prefer yours.

This was the striated lamb jacket from one of the later batches. One of the last jackets tony made
himself before he passed. Im of the personal belief that some major wear will, pardon the pun, literally wear and tone down the visible grain making it much less dinohide-y. Also, the jacket is still stiff, hasnt even been broken in thats why it looks more "substantial" than its film counterpart. Although im still on the hunt for the smoother lambskin. Thanks for the compliments!!!

In my opinion the dino-hide shrunken lamb was far too thick. It will never get the same wrinkles and creases as the movie jacket, no matter how
worn-in it gets.

You would be surprised. I have owned thick horsehide jackets that, after hard wear and a cold soak drape just like the film jacket. Other members have achieved this effect too.

It will be interesting to see how some of these shrunken lamb jackets look in several years time. You may be right, they may soften
up well.

I think there must have been different batches of Novak's shrunken lamb thatz differed quite a bit in terms of thickness. The jacket I had from him was certainly not thick and was never stiff. If anything it was too soft. I might still have a pic somewhere.

thats a great looking jacket. It looks to be one of Tony's earlier offerings from the first batch of SL lamb he had. Mine isnt "stiff" per se and is definitely soft to the touch...just..."tough" I guess would be the right word to describe it...It just needs to be broken in!

Whiskeyman that looks so much more like the film one I see. You got rid of it because it didn't please you?
I think I prefer the looks of the firmer leather. Whatever floats people's boats.

I'm new to shrunken lamb as a whole, it's a whole new leather, nothing like the lamb I know. My Wested SL has all the bumps and crinkles too. How old is your Nowak RSon ?

I think my jacket looked great in pics, but I couldn't get on with how spongy and fragile the leather felt. Also I couldn't stand the lining material.

Returning Son, you have a nice jacket there, but please remember: you can only post 6 photos per thread. Please edit your posts accordingly. Thank you.

and I think thats how most of the costume was. Good for film but couldn't hold up in the real world. It didn't have to. I think if people could go back in time and take that costume from Harrison, they would be shocked.

My Nowak is two years old but it just has not been worn (acquired this from another member). Literally sat hung on a suit hanger. Still kinda even smells new.
My leather definitely has a slightly "spongey" feel but fragile is not a word I would associate this jacket. This jacket is built like a tank, something I would feel safe in while being dragged behind a truck...

Well the leather ripped on mine twice during the short time I wore it, maybe I got unlucky with a weak hide.

REALLY?!?
I have personally handled Aero Front Quarter horsehides (the hides that I honestly say could probably stop a knife...completely serious) and this raiders lamb feels like it belongs in, not ncessarily the same company, but in close proximity to those. Out of the all the Nowak owners, you are the first story i've heard that involved an actual leather rip (not just a hardware malfunction or a zipper being broken). I think you did get a bad hide. Sorry to be so blown away but I just cant see this hide on my jacket ripping.ever...Sorry to hear about your experience Whiskeyman..

I think I am the only person to be disappointed by the Novak jackets.

You're not alone, I was too - I never really liked the KOTCS I had much.

Yes - but there's really no point digging up the past again.
Returning Son has a lovely looking jacket, that's the main thing.

Sorry--one could say that as a field archaeologist, researching context and "digging up the past" are a bit of an "occupational hazard" for me.
But yes, I agree to getting back to the subject at hand: Returning Son has an excellent looking jacket.
Thank you for sharing photos of it!
Best wishes,
Nebraska Schulte

whiskyman you maybe should mention too that you carried a christmas tree when you ripped your TN SL jacket.
Oh and Tony made you a free jacket because of this issue.

My first set of pics just didnt give this amazing garment justice. They really didnt...so I snapped some new ones. This jacket just has so much character, like it has years of stories behind it despite the fact thats its almost new!!

Nice Returning Son, but although it is "exact specs" it would look different on you than it would on HF given that you are three inches shorter and around 20 pounds lighter than the Raiders era Ford.

yeah, its definitely a tad bigger on me than it should be (but thats what the side gussest are for...cinch those buckles!!!
) but still fits really great...
