Apologies if this has been mentioned before, I did a quick search and couldn't find a recent post but I've been away from the site for a long while.

I thought it was worth a mention that Aero have a pre-production 'Indypendent Jacket' up for sale on their site:

I was researching a new A2 and noticed it on the sale page. Mods, feel free to delete if this is old news.

Aero, with the help of some folk from here, have tried to produce an Indy for some time. Problem is the movie indy is a floppy and light bit of lamb skin. An Aero is hard, heavy and armour-like. It's the wrong company trying to produce the right jacket. Maybe a capeskin one from them would work.

Yeah, exactly right, CM. That's a heck of a jacket, and if they added collar snaps it would make a great riding jacket, but it's not Indy's jacket. I like your idea for a capeskin.

Kinda exciting to see another company jump into the mix, though

Im sure an Aero Indy jacket would be great and, yes, literally bulletproof. But, as mentioned before, Aero's front quarter horsehides are a whole different breed of leather than lamb...Leather itself looks great though. If anyone is considering an AERO, their highwayman is the only way to go!

Agreed. I owned a steerhide Highwayman for a couple of days. It was amazing, but the tan/russet color just looked terrible on me . Great quality and style, though. One day...

Ooh! That Aero 'Indypendant' is a lovely looking jacket!

As you say - not thick enough or light enough for an 'Indy' jacket, but still...

If only i had the money... Maybe one day...
Although if i could afford an Aero I would go for a Surrogates style jacket rather than an Indy style

Wow, that looks pretty good. I was expecting just another generic Indy jacket, but, they appear to be aiming at a Raiders jacket (mis-aligned sleeve/yoke seams, collar ends at middle of stormflap, etc..)
However, I'm not crazy about that leather either.
Make it in some lamb or goat and I think it's a winner.

Holy cow. I'll bet you could survive a nuclear blast inside a fridge with that jacket.

I have a 30's halfbelt in Front Quarter Horsehide, it's truly a beautiful jacket, really well made.

But, the leather is too stiff and heavy for my liking. Not comfortable enough while working.

That is a thing of beauty.

I hear you. I can't wear that stuff either. Tried for years. How does your TN Surrogates wear compared to that?

Remember they do a range of lighter mid weight leathers for the A2 range - I have a swatch of their A2 seal brown horsehide and it's great, although in fairness I like the heavier leather and love my Highwayman and Barnstormer jackets.

More supple and less heavy than the Aero for sure.

I have an order on a Pegasus Jacket in Front Quarter Horsehide. I will compare the two when I get it.

The ad mentions another sample that, it says, is longer than the one here....I can't find it...anybody know where it is pictured?

It sold already. Should be at the bottom of the sale list, marked sold. Looks the same just slightly longer.

Wish I knew how it was cut....I can wear a 40 in some things...but, I don't know how this thing will fit....

You could probably e-mail them to get the measurements. I have no idea why, but Aero never posts the measurements of their sale jackets.

I'm a 42 in G&B and Wested. I'm a 40 in Aero.
