Wow very interesting indeed. And to throw a little fiction into the mix it would be plausable that Indy would have picked up some of those straps during WWI during his adventures with Remy in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.

Nice find.

Looks like a pretty close match... wish there was a better shot of the buckle

Nice find :TOH:

It looks like the HK rifle straps without the clip fastener attachment. The buckle looks a little rounder than what was used on Indy's bag, but apart from that, it's a plausible theory!

There are so many examples of how leather straps were used for military purposes and this is another great one. Good find!

Has anyone been able to measure the strap yet?

Thanks,

Interesting to see that the buckle has a slight curvature when viewed side on. I have often thought I could detect something similar in some Raiders screenshots. It would explain why the part of the strap that is looped through the buckle appears quite flat and doesn't seem to protrude forward very much.

I've been scouring the web to buy one of these straps (not w/the canteen) to check it's validity, and have yet to find one. If anyone has a lead on one at a sub-$20 price, please shout out.

Thanks,
