No Hat Check? No Problem.

Last week my Bride and I were dining at a bistro style restaurant with only two chairs at the table. Ordinarily I would leave my fed on an unoccupied chair, but since there weren't any at our table and the adjacent tables were full I was as a bit of an in-pass. I was going to awkwardly hold my fed on my lap when my Bride came to the rescue.

From her purse she produced one of the 'cheapie' tote bags she got from somewhere-or-other. It folds into almost nothing so she always has one in her purse, "just in case."

I popped my fed in the bag and tucked it under my chair. Kept my fed from being in direct contact with the floor and gave it mild protection from errant spills (of Diet Pepsi) in the vicinity. And, ironically, due to the bright color, wait staff and other diners couldn't miss it so it didn't get kicked or stepped on as people made their way between the tightly spaced tables.

Reproducing the idea at home.

That she does! She's pretty great about the 'hat thing'. She really likes how I look wearing a hat and has been very supportive as I've added colors and styles to my stable. I got four new boxes from Sarah's Hat Boxes last week and she was as excited as I was to see them!

What a simple, creative and superb concept. Thus, once again proving something I have always believed to be and is true: The simple concepts are usually the best. W>

Oh...and, I must add, love the 'line' on the bag: "Thank you for helping save our children's lives." That is a perfect for the way we baby our hats around this joint :rolling: ;) ! W>

Hey John, what about a brown or tan, thin bag (maybe canvas) with a Penman logo on one side that one could fold up and store in the pocket of a jacket or gas mask bag? Large enough to store a fedora in, and you could either place it under your chair, or hang it on the back. What do you think?

What a great idea (makes me wonder why I didn't think of it, myself)!
