No Hat Check? No Problem.

Last week my Bride and I were dining at a bistro style restaurant with only two chairs at the table. Ordinarily I would leave my fed on an unoccupied chair, but since there weren't any at our table and the adjacent tables were full I was as a bit of an in-pass. I was going to awkwardly hold my fed on my lap when my Bride came to the rescue.
From her purse she produced one of the 'cheapie' tote bags she got from somewhere-or-other. It folds into almost nothing so she always has one in her purse, "just in case."
I popped my fed in the bag and tucked it under my chair. Kept my fed from being in direct contact with the floor and gave it mild protection from errant spills (of Diet Pepsi) in the vicinity. And, ironically, due to the bright color, wait staff and other diners couldn't miss it so it didn't get kicked or stepped on as people made their way between the tightly spaced tables.
Reproducing the idea at home.

Indiana Jeff
