I don't know anything about him but for the last month or so I've been eyeing his 6-foot 8-plait "movie style" whip for my little Indy. But then I found "whipsbymike" on Etsy.com and found some impressive-looking mini whips for reasonable prices...

(I used to be one of those guys who pays two or three times for @#$% when I could have paid once for quality. I'm still fighting that tendency.)

So for what that's worth... :)

Do you mean this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/movie-style-whi ... t_719wt_90

Mods, it is a fixed price auction, so it will not hike up the price of it. If it is still against the rules I'm sorry!

The whips are decent for the price but they are by no means "good" whips. His whips taper very quickly for the first bit then

stay almost straight for half the whip or more.

Most of his heel knots look like they would be extremely uncomfortable to hold, and they are not very indy even though he

advertises them of it.

You've probably already heard this, but if you really want to get into whip cracking, don't settle for a cheap whip! With it

you'll go no where but down. Save up your money and depending on how much you're able to save, and your patience, either

get a good nylon whip or a good leather one. If you want a good leather whip that's fairly cheap, buy from Dusty Damrel, if you

want a good kangaroo whip there are many good whip makers out there. I'll sell kangaroo whips fairly cheap since I don't do it

to make a full time living.

Just don't settle for a cheap one, whatever you do, please. :TOH:

I have a tendancy to settle because I just can't justify 300 to 500 for a whip I know the quality is awesome no doubt about it, but I simply can't justify that much money for something I simply want to have for me indy and mess around with occacionaly. I would love to have a quality whip but living on dissability has its limits. not to mention my dissability sometimes prevents me form moving around. that money is almost a months rent. so while I would love one I'm not going to get one unless somebody makes me a sweet deal or luck drops pne in my lap. I recently took tot dive and started distressing my wested. so I am on the right track. I tried one of jersy joes and it really was not nice at all had a tissue paper core. yuck I sent it back. he wasn't happy. he asked me to buy one of his quality whips for 300 but it still has tissue paper in it. this guy is really out of this world with his claims, that are mostly hocus pocus.
matbe around tax time I could scrap together 200. if someone has a used one they want to sell. I would take it.
have a great day :TOH:

How about instead of buying the $90 whip, you save the $90, and and then 180-200, and buy a whip from here:

Dusty has great prices, and GREAT whips. You can get an 8 foot 12 plait for just $265, and that's new!
