A Nowak's not forever...HAPPY ENDING!!!!

Saaaaaaaaaaaaad news - I am trying to deal with it with hopes that it will come back.
I stupidly left my LC Nowak in the common area of the University that I am now teaching at for two minutes until I realized I had left it behind. Of course you know the rest...gone gone gone.....
I am hoping it will turn up. No one has turned it in yet. If anyone happens to see a #007/333 for sale you know it's mine. I am going to not freak out just yet. I will give it some time. After all, it's just a jacket....right?
Sooo....if anyone catches wind of it I would sure appreciate it....

Oh dang! I am sorry to hear that man. I will keep a look out online for it and see if anyone tries to sell it. I hope you can get it back.

I feel your pain. Someone walked off with my Wested at the QM Summit in 2008. Peter fit me for the jacket back in 2005, and it fit me like a glove. You will always miss it, but eventually you will move on.

Definitely monitor Craigslist and eBay for your jacket.

Problem is- whoever took it most likely has no idea of its worth. So if it does show up on eBay it will just be called a brown leather jacket. I really do hope it finds it's way back to you.

MAn, that's harsh...My eyes watered up a bit when you quoted the big man himself....BEST of luck in getting it back. I'm hoping for you!!!

thank you all for your words. What kills me is that it was my brief moment of stupidity. Today I will start a more thorough campus search....keeping my fingers crossed....

Check local consignment shops around campus too. Sometimes folks just want some quick cash.
Quite frankly, this news rates a word that the word censor will immediately change to a bunch of 'xxxx''s.

I left mine in a church class room after a boy scout meeting this past fall. I didn't realize it until the next morning when I was heading out for work. Knowing the church doesn't lock its doors, I went there first thing and thankfully it was still on the coat rack where I'd left it.
Good luck.

When (Not if), WHEN you get it back, at least you'll have a great story about your jacket!
Super bummed to hear about your Nowak. I'll let you know if I see anything!

Mixed feelings about that.
Somethings that only draws more attention to the fact the jacket is, in fact, more valuable than the thief originally thought.

If you haven't already done so, Nick, it might not be a bad idea to contact your equivalent of Campus Security to keep an eye out for it, too. Hope it turns up soon!
Best wishes,

Is there a lost and found counter? Perhaps a custodian might have turned it in?

GRRR...
Sorry to read this, Nick... Hope it shows up safe and sound (and
SOON)
My promise to you is that when I'm on ebay
-I get on there probably once a day for a few minutes- I'll be sure to do a quick couple of searches for your jacket...
Here's hopin' ...

Nick, something else just came to mind...
You mentioned the jackets number... Can I assume that maybe Tony might've also stitched a monogram with your name (or a quote) inside the jacket on the lining?
It's always possible that thief might see that and think "If I want to sell this, I'd better get someone to remove that stitching first"
Are there any places like that local to where you are where maybe someone could bring in a leather coat or jacket and say "Can you remove the monogram for me?"
If any places come to mind you might want to check with them and ask whether someone's come in asking about that kinda thing (or ask them to keep an eye out for someone for when they DO come in...)
It's a SLIM possibility, I'll admit... but can't hurt to maybe check into it...

I'm with Mitch, if your name is in it you could have a better chance to locate it.

At the very least, you'll find out how many gearheads are on campus when security corrals up that lineup!
But yeah, I'd hit up lost and found before doing anything else.

I was talking to a colleague the other day who was in Mexico over the New Years. She had taken a brand new Canon DSLR camera with her on the holiday and accidently left it in a cab. REalizing some time later that she lost the camera she immediately thought she had lost it forever but then decided she would at least try to find it. She asked another cab driver to help her and he got on the phone and after many calls somehow found the cab driver whose car the camera was left in. Long story short the guy returned the camera to her no problem. She said the incident restored some of her faith in humanity (especially with all the night mare stories you hear coming out of Mexico these days) since the cab driver could have easily just kept it. My point is, perhaps someone picked it up to turn it in. I work at a university and for the most part I find people quite honest about lost items. From what I know of you, the size of the jacket is not common and so it is not likely that someone would be wearing it around. I am sure you have done this but I would ask the cleaners/security/student center to see if anyone turned it in. I too thought of putting up a sign. Actually you know the time and day you lost it. You can be sure because students schedules are the same every week, that the person who has your jacket will be going through that same area at the same time next week. Either stand and see if someone is wearing your jacket or put up a sign. Yes, I agree with Michaelson that it might alert people to the value of it, but you could also just say honestly that the jacket has great sentiment value to you. Just some thoughts.
hope you find it
Gary

Wow. I've had a bad day, so that's something very positive to think about as I go to bed....
That's great to hear. Losing stuff is so frustrating because not only do lose what you lost, you then feel so foolish about it.

Hey bruv, that's like massively respectful of that student to bring back your jacket or whatever? I bet you was like, totally shocked isn't it? When I saw this thread I was like, "No way, blud! You's lost your jacket what you always wore when you got all blinged up and ****! Harsh!" But now it's back! Standard!!
Lots of love, more hugs and ****, etc.,
