So it's been awhile since I've been here! A while back I got a Coyle's standard jacket and thought I was done with my quest! However, recently I've been finding that I don't think I like the fit under the arms (not fault of Coyle's, I'm sure that's part of the downside of buying "off the rack" as opposed to custom). Picture probably doesn't show it well enough. It feels like the armpits are too low and baggy. Like it should fit a little snugger under the arms and maybe closer to the body?
Opinions? Is this accurate to the fit of the original?

Re: Fit under the arms?
Those armholes look smaller than anything I own. How much smaller do you want them? Unless you're talking about the fabric underneath the armpits—the lat area—which is an issue with some other manufacturers.
I'm not sure what you're going for, but if it fits you and you're happy with it, I wouldn't worry about it.
(Or should I let him come to his own epiphanies about screen accuracy?)

Re: Fit under the arms?
Most Indy jackets I've seen around here fit like that. Mine do too. In fact, the effect on yours is pretty mild. I'd say it fits pretty well.
Re: Fit under the arms?
Thanks all. I guess I've just gotten used to really fitted jackets. I have some vintage WWII jackets that fit more "fitted" and I quite like that fit I've discovered. Where the armpits are much closer to your actual arm pits without as much bagginess there. Like if I take my Indy jacket and push the armpit of the jacket up into my armpit, it looks better to me (but obviously would require serious alterations to make that work). Anyway just wanted opinions and comparisons. Didn't know if some of the "custom" jacket had a little more tailored fit (I imagine they almost certainly would, obviously, but specifically in that region).
Re: Fit under the arms?
I think the jackets in Raiders had a fairly loose fit under the arms:

Ooh! Nice pics. I'd been looking for screen caps but hadn't found any good ones yet.

Re: Fit under the arms?
I know exactly what you mean! I feel the same way and it is true....most OTR jackets are are bigger as they must accomadate the average joe. I wear plenty of Frock coats and vintage stuff and they are pretty fitted in the shoulders and arms so the average Indy jacket feels kinda big on me in those areas. But custom design can fix that. Somewhere in the Wested Hero thread are pics of my dark lambskin Hero where I feel the arms are pretty snug almost all the way into the arm pits. I feel it looks much better that way. Much more vintage. And when I ordered stuff from Magnoli, I specifically explained that I wanted it fitted in those areas and he delivered!
The jacket you pictured looks pretty good though. I`ve had far worse. And check out the screen grabs that were posted. That jackets looks major wide. Kinda freaked me out when I just saw it!

Most, if not all, of the stunt jackets used in the film had gussetts to allow for better outward and overhead arm motion, as seen in the photos above.
Does yours have gussets in the armpits?
If not, that could also be the reason yours rides differently than those seen in the Raiders action photos posted.

I never thought I'd write this line but your armpits look great! About as good and tight a fit as I've seen on an Indy - it's part of the look.
