Club Obi Wan

Has anyone here seen "The Ninth Gate"? I saw it for the first time last night and the first thing that I noticed were the spectacles worn by Jonny Depp's character.... very familiar. Am I right in thinking these are the same ones worn by our very own Dr Jones?

PS - It was heartbreaking - they got broken half way through the film.

I know of the film, though haven't watched it, and am not even slightly knowledgable in the line of Indy glasses. I do recall seeing Jonny wear some on the DVD cover. Are these the one's you're reffering to?

Unfortunatly I dont know as I only saw it on TV - but in the film he wears two sets of glasses. 1 set is the BOIC style models and the others are a squarish type.

Yes, I saw it. I actually have a thread in this forum looking for Depp's bag.
I've looked long and hard at the specs, and his original pair does in fact look to be the same BOICs that Indy uses.

Fantastic screenshots! There are quite a few good shots of them throuhgout the film, like the ones you captured. Good chance to look at them close up.

You also se Skinner from the X Files wearing BOICs in some episodes.

They show up all over TV and movies if you watch closely.

Next time somebody asks about your glasses, just say they are the same style Johnny Depp wore in the Gate

Oh, I forgot to mention...don't be fooled by the last shot in the lower right corner.
Those glasses look very different than the regular BOICs. That's the scene in France when Depp gets attacked by "the albino." They were probably cheap stunts. I threw that image in there when I first made the collage for illustration purposes.
