Adhesive on leather

Looking for a little help here.
I have an LLBean goatskin A2-type jacket that a friend would like to use as part of his wardrobe for a play he'll be appearing in. Thing is, to work in the play the jacket will need some "unit" patches like those on Tom what's-his-name's jacket in TOP GUN. I don't want the patches sewn on and then removed, and I'm not really interested in having them sewn on and left for me to wear later.
No-one I've asked has been able to give a solid answer about an adhesive that would hold the patches solidly in place and neither damage the leather nor leave a residue when the patches are removed.
Can anyone comment and, ideally, recommend an appropriate product?
Thanx,
LJ
