Can anybody explain them in basic terms ?

I'm not too sure how to explain the sidearm crack, but if the overhand crack is the circus crack you're reffering to, it's pretty easy. Just throw your arm diretly at 12-1 o clock then down. There's no wrist movement, it'll crack itself
