Congratulations. Do you have experience in cracking one, or do you have a video for instruction?

I haven't cracked one since I was 10, but I got the alex green vids and the Mark Allen vid to get acquainted. I'll also grab Stenhouse's DVD.

Any advice for the basic stuff like the Indy overhead crack, while I'm waiting ?

I DID to to a nice soft grass park and see what I remembered. And miraculously, no injuries !

I was amazed that I switched hands without thinking though. All simple overhead swings and l-i-g-h-t cracks, but still....

Just need my jacket and lid and I'm good...Of course now I'll NEED a natural tan 10 footer by springtime ! :D It was worth selling some of my guitar effect units to get this whip, so I may wind up "unplugged" if I keep this up !

What I'd REALLY like though is a nylon Indy 8 footer to practice hard with but Tim and Rhett haev such long wait times ! Oh the burden ! :)

Thanks so much !
Ken

Congrats, JerseyJones! You can't go wrong with Joe Strain, he's simply one of the best out there. Come on out and do some cracking when you get the chance!

Best regards,
Jim

I had mine out today. I finally got it down where I can do 4 cracks all in a row!

Underhand to forward to horizontal, and end with reverse horizontal.

I think the reverse horizontal precedes the horizontal crack a lot better. In fact, I do a reverse horizontal to a self whip wrap, then unwrap to a horizontal, reverse circus crack, forward circus crack, underhand crack and finish with a circus crack. It's a good flowing combo. Try it.

Keep on cracking a smile :whip:

Yeah, I think I confused the two. I'm right handed, so I swing it out horizontaly in front of me: crack
continues around my head behind me, snap it back horizontal: crack.

I wish you hadn't mentioned that combo... now my schoolwork will suffer

BTW, I have no idea how to do a reverse circus crack.

One way I think that will help is to do the circus crack to your left, that is 90 degrees to the left from where you normally throw it in front of you. The whip is then being thrown across the front of you. I might call that the body plane. Now it's easier to see where to throw the reverse circus crack. It's all about symmetry. Whatever you do in one direction do the exact opposite in the other direction. You will now throw the whip to the right opposite of the normal forward throw to the left as I mentioned before. Once you have that mastered in those two directions, gradually turn your body so that the cracks are back on your side as normal. So now you have a forward circus crack and then a reverse circus crack. The two cracks flow very well together and is called a "Slow Figure 8" because it's a perfectly symmetrical combo.
It's not that difficult. Try it by doing the cracks across the front of your body then gradually turning your body so that the cracks are on the side.

Keep on cracking! :whip:

btw, the underhand crack followed by the forward circus crack is a combo called the "Whoosh Bang"
