Wested/DHL anecdote

I was cruising Wested's website last week and happened upon a 42 LC in Dark Lambskin in the clearance section and grabbed it immediately. I'm sure many of you have similar experiences waiting anxiously for gear in the mail, but I thought I'd share my frustrating DHL experience.
According to the DHL tracking page, the jacket left the UK on Tuesday 22 Nov and arrived in Cincinnati on 23 Nov and made it all the way to Honolulu by 1244 the same day. For those not familiar with Oahu, Honolulu is 20 minutes (give or take traffic) from where I live in Kaneohe. I was elated and thought I just might have my jacket in hand before Thanksgiving. Nope.
It is 0820 HST Friday 25 Nov and the DHL page hasn't updated since the 1244 23 Nov arrival posting.
Bottomline: it will take the jacket longer to reach me from 20 minutes away than it actually took for it travel from the UK to the States.
The price of living in paradise, I suppose.

Hanging in, here! My finger is sore from pressing the refresh button on the tracking site!
Update: "With delivery courier" as of 0930.

Not even a little? I DO have to contend with TOD sized critters. Complete with the sound effects.
BTW, the jacket still hasn't arrived...

I think they call it "Island Time."

That's what the whip is for!
That is a shame about your jacket though. Cant you just drive up and collect it?

That is SO true! From a court reporter's perspective I can tell you that is a genuine term of art in the legal and government field. Jamaica has an equivalent: "Soon come..."
I feel your pain, wwtwo.
BTW, I was born in that pink hospital, lol

I was on the Big Island for a week this past summer. I could not believe how slowly everyone drove there. Then, when I got home, I was terrified by how fast everyone was going!

Well, the jacket finally arrived around 1500 Friday. The "island time" observation is spot-on - illustrated by the super-fast journey from the UK, across the entire CONUS and it stalling as soon as it hit Hawaii. What's done is done and the jacket is recovering peacefully on its hanger, only slightly traumatized.
FFTT: I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have the same experience when I go home to the mainland. You mainlanders drive WAY too fast!
I'll get pictures of my Wested collection posted at some point.
Cheers,
W
PS and totally off topic: in RotLA, where exactly is the plane's first stop from San Francisco? It looks like no map of Hawaii I've ever seen!
