Need a hatband replaced....

Top o' the mornin' to ya!

Where in Orange County can I find a milliner [sp?] to replace my hatbands? No....I don't have a $500 replica. I just have 2 really cheapo Indy hats that have brown hatbands [same color as the hat] that I need replaced with a dark brown [Yeah, I know it's not black] ones. Todd would do this for me if he had the time, but considering the season, he is way to busy. I ordered 2 ribbons from him to do my 2 hats....one for me and one for my lovely wife......So anybody know someone?

I would attempt this myself, but diabetic neuropathy has damaged my fingertips and so doing hand sewing of any kind is hazardous to my health....er...fingers!

I don't have much time either....the Summit is next month....lend a guy a hand...er...finger and let me know if you know someone who can do this.

Many thanks,

Nevada Smith

Well, there's always Baron's. I don't know if he does sweat replacements, but Gunner Foxx's name has been mentioned on The Fedora Lounge, his site is at: http://gunnerfoxx.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

You might also check for a western hat store. Alternatively, you can always sent it out. Paul's Hat Works here in S.F. would probably take the job, Optimo could certainly do it as well.

Thank you. I checked with Baron's and they would not be able to get it done in time. Gunner Foxx needs you to make an appointment. Don't have time for that either.

Anyone else? Please?????

If you don't get a solution before, I'm going to be at the Summit and would be happy to lend a hand. I replaced the ribbon on a non-Indy hat I own with ribbon I got from Todd and am reasonably happy with the results. I'm not going to promise professional grade work, but if you bring the parts with a bit of thread and a needle I'm happy to give it a go.

In fact, I suggest you drop a line in the Qm thread, you may have other volunteers that'll have more/better experience than me.

Regards,

Indiana Jeff

Well, I would still suggest giving Gunner an email. The reality is that there's just not that many folks who do this type of work. Did you check to see if there were any western stores in your area?
