pants project.
I have these awesome Magnoli pants in camel. (LC color) They are alittle too short for me so I am having them let out an inch leaving a 1'' hem. no biggie..small detail really....
thing is, the color is very nice and really reminds me of the pants where you see indy climb up on the wing. I am thinking of having them dyed darker to match the real color.
I am also replacing the buttons.
still, they are pretty cool as they are...

Re: pants project.
i think those pants look pretty good as they are- are they cotton or the wool twill ones?

Re: pants project.
Nice pants Holt! I think the color of the pants you see in the Wing picture is light because they're covered with dirt.
Now when you say "real color", what do you mean? Are you trying to get a color closer to the NH or Wested?

Indeed - the color of the Raiders pants in that picture are covered with dirt, clay, etc. so they look lighter. If you look closer between all the dirty areas, you can see the darker color of the Raiders trousers. Not to derail the thread or anything, but one thing that surprised me with Todds trousers was that he went for the greyish fabric color which, while it sometimes looks that way on screen, is actually not screen-accurate as far as the actual material color used. I have another picture around here somewhere of Ford sitting by the Bantu Wind which really shows the pink in his trousers.
So while Magnoli still does an INCREDIBLE JOB with providing us with rare, unique and darn right great fabrics, there is still nobody (as of yet) other than Wested that offers a fabric color near the Raiders' true color. And if Wested would actually duplicate the NH trousers as far as cut, bagginess, and the nuances of the pocket flaps (absolutely ghastly imo the way they are currently ), I think they'd definitely hold one over the competition.
And as another side note - depending on the size of those camel trousers, I might be interested in them so IF you ever decide to sell, let me know. (PS - as the mod here, if my request should be addressed to you another way, I'll be happy to edit it out, or else you have my permission to do so. Thanks! )

Re: pants project.
One question that's been bugging me guys....how do we know that the NH color is "THE" color?
I remember Kt Templars post about the Screen Used NH pants (which I honestly think are Raiders pants) and I remember him saying that it matched the Wested pants perfectly, but I have solid proof that the Wested pants and NH pants are not the same color!
Edit:
I'll try to get some pictures up soon comparing Wested, NH, MBA, and Todd's pants. Then we'll get a more solid idea of which color is closest, if not, exact!

Re: pants project.
Well that's just the thing with almost all the trousers (I say almost as the best bet for knowing the trouser of color is the CS trousers which are more accessible to the viewing public) - not only do we not have a good definitive answer, but we don't even know for sure who the original suppliers were. Case in point - about a year ago, I talked with B. Black and Sons of LA about cavalry twill fabric and stated my reasons for wanting the fabric (to make Indy trousers). The fellow who was on the phone with me stated that he was pretty sure that THEY supplied the fabric to the production for the LC trousers but didn't have the documentation in front of him at present. Yet from what I understand, Noel Howard was the one who made much of the gear (and definitely the shirts iiuc) and based his trousers of the exact same color and fabric as he supplied to the production. So here we have two places an ocean and a continent apart, who both claim to have provided the trousers/fabric for LC.indydude18 wrote:One question that's been bugging me guys....how do we know that the NH color is "THE" color?

I also believe that somewhere on either the main page or in one of the threads on here is posted some pictures somebody took of the original Raiders trousers. The color is bad so it's hard to get a good idea of the actual color of them, but perhaps the person that took them could recall better what color is best if he had swatches placed before him/her of, say, Todds, Magnoli's, Wested, NH, and MBA? Just a thought.
And I guess, for right now, all we have to go on is the fact that the general consensus is that Noel DID provide the clothing for the film and it's widely held that HE DID use the exact same fabric and color to make the fan trousers for sale. We then have to go on that for now unless some better pictures come up from a screen-used pair.

Re: pants project.
Very nice screen grabs Indydude18!
This is the same problem that's been had for ages - all the different filters, lighting, sets, etc. make the trousers look different. I think, though, that the "best" coloration of the Raiders trousers can be seen from the leg picture of the original trousers you posted as well as from the screen grab of Indy climbing onto the flying wing, looking past the clay and dirt and focusing on the blotches of pink that are showing through that.
I also found the picture I mentioned, however I cropped it as to not infringe on the original poster's rights regarding it. However, I'm not quite up to speed on whether or not this allows me to post it without acknowledging the original poster of this picture so if I'm infringing on or doing anything incorrectly, please let me know and I'll change, delete, etc. it.
The picture:
I tried to keep a little bit of the jacket in the frame to use as a contrast to the trousers to hopefully better aid in visualizing the true color of the trousers. Notice though how "pink" they are in this picture while in some of the other stills they look almost "greyish" (like Todd's).

Re: pants project.
Whoa, those suckers DO look pink! Hmm...
Maybe these trousers were just "Officers Pinks"?
Because in many other pictures and screen grabs, they seem just like the NH Raiders trousers, but these look alot like the NH ToD trousers!

Re: pants project.
Revamping the thread!
Holt, how is your pants project going? Did you decide to dye your pants to a more Raiders SA color?
I'm still interested in trying to find out who has the most SA pants color/fabric.
Here are a couple of pictures that I think show the pants color the best. These are from the bonus dvd in the Indiana Jones trilogy and I think these were shot without filters so we can get a better idea of the true gear colors.

The cool thing about these photos is that I think that it shows that the NH shirt fabric is very close, if not exact, to the screen-used shirt fabric.

Re: pants project.
I also just noticed how, in the last two pics, that the pants don't have too much of a rise in them, either. They look to be quite fitted as I recall Magnoli mentioning this a long time ago. There are some other rare pics in the whip section that show this also. To this day, I have never subscribed to the really baggy cut of the pants.
