Of course, that is because Logan, like St. Dumas, is a Canadian. No doubt he would have insisted on the left-hand zips.

You know the 'zip thingy' being on the left kind of mystifies me. I have grown to actually prefer it and have purchased other jackets, coats, etc. from over seas and Canada knowing they were the same way. It just really doesn't make any difference to me. Now if I were to find clothing items that buttoned in this mannor like ladies clothing then I would probably have some issues. Not from a macho kind of thing, but just learning to button in reverse would scramble this 'ol brain #-o ! W>

Not sure where the info about Canadian zippers being left hand like European zippers comes from. I've lived here all my life and the first left handed zipper for a man's jacket I've ever run across was on a Wested Raiders. It's definitely not the norm in Canada, or with Canadian made clothing.

Is it "coated" or treated? That sheen is kinda cool. Like some goat. Beautiful hide. Like an Aero HG5 I have in brown FQHH. NICE!

I have a vest from Tilley...left hand zip and had another jacket some time back from a Canadian maker (sorry, can't recall the name off hand at the moment) that was also left. Thus, my association with said. W>

I wonder if in 10 years time that would look as good as Cole's jacket at FJ.com... :-k

Nice jacket, Patto.

Zips... in Aust they are on the right and left depending on the brand. I have never noticed the difference in using jackets. I have several zips on both sides. It's hardly an issue and I don't understand the folk who find it a challenge.

When I got my X1 from Dan, I was so used to left handed zips that I didn't even notice. My wife put it on and said, "This is a girls zipper!" :x #-o What do they know?

I actually find "right-hand" zips throw me off. I'm trying to put the wrong side on top to engage the zipper.

Of course, my kids say I'm just easily confused...

That is correct. However Vanson did make the stunt jacket that Rick had in his possession (I'm pretty sure this is right). So that would kinda make Vanson the G&B of the X1 world...

Not correct. It's my impression that there are no screen shown Vansons, even though Vanson made the prototypes. Does that make them the (sorry for this) Wilson's of the X world???

Vanson makes the coolest Wolvie jackets. I think Logan's Closet's X3 jackets look better than Hugh's!

_, congrats on a fine jacket! I got to hold onto a horsehide X1 jacket for a couple of weeks from Dan, and they certainly have a fantastic and unique charm!

I don't think it was just the tag, but other differences, and conversations with Vanson and costumers, etc. This thread is good reading!

Hey _! About a month ago the gentleman that owns vanson was interviewed on a local Boston NPR affiliate. It was an interesting talk about the struggles of small businesses in the current economy. He seemed like a nice guy.

The second the show introduced him I thought, 'man, too bad _ isn't in Boston anymore. He'd love to listen to this!'

Anyway... Sorry to derail the thread.

I'll try to see if I can find a stream or podcast of the interview.

Just to straighten out and flesh out some info here... Vanson did not make the stunt/screen used Wolverine jacket Rick T had in hand, this was confirmed by the vanson folks in person when examining the jacket. Vanson only made the prototype sample jackets sent to FOX for the movie production. All the original prototypes were right handed zippers, a couple were red striped of a couple different shades, one was gold striped with Octagon body(this is still Vanson's stock WOLF design color combo). FOX kept one of the Vanson made samples in archives under X-MEN with tag still in the jacket because it did not end up used for shooting, and only as a sample to build the jackets used in production. Most jackets that end up on screen usually have the tag hacked out of them last minute but are left as is until used for shooting, as _ stated this is typical practice in the film world. So AFAIK no Vansons made it on screen, but were the only company to have an accurate jacket compared to what did end up used on screen due to making the first design for FOX. All the photos(timestamped) and paperwork I have come across confirm Vanson's creation of the WOLF to be the first iteration of this design in early 1999.

No problemo Hollow, happy to help... As most know that have followed this jacket closely on the little details, I had to work with Vanson over the past few years to finally get all those little SA differences in place on Vanson's production WOLF to match up to the Hacked together production screen used jackets.

I know I'm late to this, but I'm Mclovin' that X1 _!!...That leather looks amazing!!...I'd love to see some post-washing machine shots...Did you post any?....Horse hide....Hmmmm....In the words of Agent Smith, 'It's the smell!'...

I'm hoping to get a Vanson in the near future....I'm holding out for the LC Jacket that was mentioned a while back.....

The zipper side just confuses me....I've only got one US made jacket, US Wings Legend, which fastens on the right, but after getting used to that, unzipping my jackets now is just guess work..
