This looked like a handy piece of gear to have while on an adventure, although not totally period, it's a collapsible shot glass from Eddie Bauer ...

I picked one of those up a few weeks ago, too. It fits nicely in the little pocket inside the bag.

Hey Shishak. Does it work well? (doesn't leak)

P.S. Obi1al, if I get one, they'll be picking us both up!!!

When I was a young-un and in the scouts I had one
of these made of plastic. I didn't realize anyone was
still making them. Very cool piece of gear.

Actually, this is VERY period. Collapsable metal drinking cups were considered normal pocket items for the traveler back in the 1870's, so why NOT one in the Indy bag? Regards. Michaelson

Yeah, it works great! I've only used it for water, but no leaks. If you have little kids though, just be careful - mine like to collapse it when it is full of water. They think it's really funny.

That's great! Well, it's a stainless steel model which is even better against rust. People are always posting "What's in your bag?". Here's a chance for another/useful item.

This was actually considered a real luxury item back in it's day, and you could order them in sterling silver and engraved in gold from high end jewelers of the era. I'm used to the old plastic ones we used to get through Boy Scout sales in the 1960's. Wonder if they're still available? Regards. Michaelson

Michelson, ..... one of these days, I'm going to make a cerebral interface to post all of your knowledge on this board! ... er ... well, not ALL of your knowledge. There's only so much about coffee we might need to know!

IndySkip, it's just as well that you CAN'T do that. It's a dark and dangerous place to enter as it is!

Not to go off topic. But a ? for Michaelson.
Are the cups you mentioned similar to the one carried by Doc Holiday in Tombstone?

Now all you need is a stainless steel flask to carry your whiskey in.

Why would you even need that when you can drink straight from the bottle?

That's a good question, Koreana! (grins) The answer to the 'Tombstone' question is 'yes'. You can also see one used in the original 1939 Western 'Stagecoach', carried by the gambler , John Carridine, and taken out of his vest pocket for water for the southern lady. Regards. Michaelson

Well you could use it as a drinking container for a small dog. Oh man it's getting late...

If you're drinking from
my bottle, it may come in handy.

I was thinking that you could slip the web address into an email and zing it off to family members for a good holiday gift?
It's only $8. And compared to the rest of our gears prices that give family members seizures, this would look nice engraved too!
