need some advice...

So I got my LC jacket on Tuesday and love it, pretty SA with some minor flaws but I'm no SA nazi so I'm happy. My question is about the color of my jacket. I ordered it in authentic brown lamb, but it seems VERY dark brown, I compared it to my other auth br jacket and this new one is a tad darker, but I remembered I used alot of rubbing alcohol on the old one, so I tryed the same thing on the new one but I'm a bit puzzled, color comes off on the rag, but you can't see a difference on the jacket?. I even used straight nail pohlish remover on the inside of the stormflap, and I still can't see a difference. I'm starting to think this jacket is 'chrome' tanned, I remember reading that its basically impossible to distress a jacket that's been dyed that way. Thoughts?

There are various screen references that I like to refer back to, but this is a very good thread on the LC jacket. Note about half way down, A-5's post on the Chicago jacket:

Modern day, Wested's 'Authentic brown' seems to be the closest dye to the actual film produced jackets, but there could be variations in color from one batch of tanned leather to another.

Thanks, my older auth br looks very much like the pictures of the chicago jacket. I'm just confused about the new one, I've been trying every possible way to distress it but with no luck, alcohol & acetone just make the color duller not lighter, and sand paper reveals a very dark grey/ purplish under tone, which is way in thinking its been dyed through and through, maybe like lambtouch? I'm not dissapointed or anything I like the new one, just curious

AFAIK almost every Wested jacket is chrome tanned, and they have been for years. Only recently have they offered veg tanned leather jackets again. The difference in colour and possibly dying technique might indicate that Wested changed tanners since you bought the old one or that the tannery they used simply changed their methods. Does anyone here know if they switched tanneries?

Have you tried 100% Acetone?

No, I'm not trying to age it. I was trying to lighten the color some, to more of a warmer brown, its a bit dark. But I'm really liking this jacket fits good, the lamb is really thick compared to my other one. Pockets are perfect to me at least.
