Has anyone replaced the ribbon on their Coyles Downtowner?

Love my Downtowner, but my ribbon has a purplish hue to it. I had some small pieces of Todds ribbon from a few years ago and there is a definite difference, so I ordered some ribbon from Todds and it arrived today.

Going to attempt to change the ribbon. Has anyone done it? Found a couple of tutorials. Doesn't seem to terribly hard (I hope).

i used the ribbon from todd's to replace the ribbon on my todds' downtowner(version one) but i had it done by a hat company in chicago , so it came out very nice, i may do my downtowner (version two) later this summer .
the hat on the left is my version one, with the new darker ribbon. on the right, my version two without a new ribbon.

What shop did you take it to IndyClone? I am down in Ft. Wayne and wouldn't mind sending it to them as it looks like they do great work.

Hey Darkhelmet, my wife actually replaced mine for me. She said it is was pretty easy, the bow and the hat band are two seperate pieces. The bow should come off first and it is pretty easy, the only hidden stitch was under the ribbon that makes up the center of the bow. After that the hat band is stiched in a couple of places. Remember that the hat band doesn't go all the way around, it tucks just under the bow. The bow is a lenth of ribbon folded in half wit the open ends tucked under and stiched down. She said just keep the old bow handy and use it for a template. She didn't even bother to check for any tutorials, but then again she is an experienced seamstress. :)

Hope this helps, if you have any questions, I will ask her and try to get you an answer. ;)

I did it too, and I'm in no way an expert on that stuff. It was pretty easy, just look at how the original bow was constructed and do the same :) Must admit though that I did use a small amount of crazy glue to get it right.
