I believe it's one of whip used on Raiders, maybe it was then used in other movies.

Not sure which movie it was used in, but, it looks like a TOD whip to me.
Slightly tappered handle, thin thong, ring knot located farther out (looks to be past the end of the handle spike), teardrop shaped TH knot and that way floppy transition (as seen in the pic with Vic holding it). Also, the fall appears to be latigo instead of whitehide.

It's from TOD I'm pretty sure (although some of those whips were holdovers from Raiders) - thats the film that Vic did the most doubling for Harrison on due to his back issue.

I know Vic and Wendy and his brother Andy - I worked with him back when he directed a feature (Joshua Tree aka Army of One). Great guy and so much fun and such great stories. I haven't read his book yet, but I'm sure it's such a fun read. Good people. Can't wait to see his work on the Spider-Man reboot - if for nothing else the web swinging will be awesome!

Hard to be sure about which movie. I would guess a raiders used in tod- looks to be an 8ft to me. Very very broken in!! I actually like that "wet noodle" look. To me it's the Raiders look. Just watch the scene in Raiders when Indy climbs onto the cart screaming Marion's name - that whip looks like an old rope!! great!
Funnily enough, one of the first Morgan whips I ever owned was almost that floppy. I remember being concerned enough about it's condition to write to Mr Morgan including photos and asking whether it had gone from being broken in to just broken. It was very very loose and you could see under some of the strands. BUT it cracked like a cannon with absolutely no effort at all!!

Looks like a TOD to me, even a Raiders. Looks well used and broken in! I also like the limpy, wet-noodle look of some of the whips. Looks cool like that.

Great thread, and I love the pictures. I was a bit taken aback by the floppy transition. Maybe because my first experience with a real whip was my Strain. Nearly three years on and the transition is still tight as a drum. If the whip in the photos belonged to Glenn Randall, then who knows how much action it had seen before becoming part of Indys arsenal.

I have a feeling that the one DM I've cracked (Marc Kitter's) was like this. And I liked that whip a lot!

It had a shorter slightly tapered handle and just seemed very precise.

I worked with Vic on The Mummy 3 and he IS a great guy! We talked a bit about Raiders and he tried out some of my whips and watching him crack a whip was like seeing a kid in a candy store; his eyes lit up and he had this big 'ol smile - he was very comfortable with it. What's more he gave my whips a big thumbs up! I gave him a supply of crackers and such for his own whips at home. All in all, my experience with him was the most pleasant imaginable and he is truly a gentleman!

Thanks SO much for the pics, guys! Always love having a look at screen-used whips. In fact just last night I was trolling through some old e-mail pics of Doc Riviere's screen-used LC whip (courtesy of Whiskyman).
"Wet noodle"--yes you nailed it there, Nick! I too dig that look but didn't realize just HOW floppy those transitions could actually be. Wow! Almost looks like a Halloween costume prop. You mentioned the cart shot but how about when he rescues Marion from the cockpit. Prior to the Internet and the free availability of screen-caps I was convinced that the hero whip got temperamental and decided not to come out of its trailer that day of shooting so they just substituted an old rope. The LC whip also seems to be a flopper--just seeing how it coils on his belt in the castle scenes and certain other stills. "Broken in"? "Broken down" is more like it I think! One day (and doubtless many, many sore shoulders later) I'd like my Morgan to look something like that.

Again, can't get enough of screen-used shots. Great stuff.

I'm so jealous of that whip! My own DM will be 10 years old next month, and the lash is still as springy as a cowboy lasso. Maybe I should roll it through those rock crusher wheels in the Temple of Doom a few hundred times to noodle-ify it!

If you enlarge the LC publicity shot, you can see the fishing keeping the whip coiled.

Oh, I think all three movies' whips were flop city. That's one of the reasons I love the distress work on the whips and gear in general--those things look like they've been to #### and back and actually USED throughout his adventures. Don't look like off-the-shelf movie props at all. Now KOTCS, erm, not so much. . . .
