Indy's MOTB sweater: Please help me nail down the details.

Well, I'm going to give this thing a shot. I've knitted a lot of stuff, but never a scarf. This'll be my first one.
Anyhoo, I'd like to get some input about details on the scarf such as:
* The buttons: Are they smooth on the surface? I can't really tell.
* The ribbing: Any ideas as to the width of the ribbing where the buttons are? Or the "shawl neck" piece?
Any other thoughts you may have about the sweater would be greatly appreciated.

Try a search through Indy Magnoli's posts. He got a sweater that was pretty close, if I remember correctly, and had pics of it to boot.

I did, and that post (I remember seeing it before) has been deleted.

hmmm. Must've been a victim of the May site crash.
Hopefully he'll read this and re-post.

Sounds like a good plan to me...and personally I think it's a great winter look...kind of captures that casual gentleman look...of course the fact that it's all IndyGear adds to it a little too
I'd actually like to have a sweater like this myself...if anyone comes across a good source for one, please let me know. Thanks...
Oh and Propreplicator, good luck to you..let us know how it turns out.

I don't have any of those specific details. I sent some pics and description to a company in Mexico who made this for me:
The shawl collar turned out too narrow. I had them make the shoulders more like a suit to give it a more tailored look, and also had it made quite short so it would look right under the jacket as well as look more 1920s/30s. Since then I also found a good one at Dillards which had a better collar, but was longer so it sticks out the bottom of my jacket. Both are great cardigans and do look great on there own or under a leather jacket. I highly recommend this addition to any Indy Gear wardrobe.
Good luck and kind regards,
Indy

The problem I have is that I have never been able to find a button down shawl sweater that was short enough to wear with an Indy jacket, bomber style jacket, or anything other than an overcoat without sticking out beyond the hem, even when trying to squeeze into a slightly smaller size.

I picked up the Land Ends sweater listed in another thread and it's a very "close enought" sweater in my opinion, pretty nice color too....
